The one thing you are really neglecting to consider though is, in all probability, the Jets were not going to pay Brick his salary as it currently was. That makes the "Brick would have played if he got his full salary" issue moot.
Who to say it wasn't both? Maybe he thought it wasn't worth the pay cut because of concussions. He may had thought it was worth the chance if they paid him his contract.
Exactly. 0 percent chance they were going to. But that doesnt change the fact that he retired because he wasnt going to earn his usual salary , either here or with another team. Some here want to believe it was about concussions first and thats wayyyy off.
You've learned zero from what I've said in this thread. Go back and read and comprehend and then come up with a different opinion cause I've said I dont believe ANY sports writers. But since other posters want to post articles and pointless Twitter links that state their opinions , why shouldnt I when thats all they believe.?
Could've been. But if that was the case then why not retire 2 months ago and save the team the cap space from the start? He had to know as soon as last season ended that he wasnt going to be back here at his normal salary.
Because with the way our cap situation is/was , there was 0 percent chance he was going to be back at that salary. Especially if we werent able to trade Wilkerson. So it was either restructure or be cut , and earn the same restructured salary for another team..or retire. So I totally see why he retired.
It smart business to wait until your asked to take a pay cut before retiring. Plus it obvious he was thinking about retiring before he was asked.
Agreed. The paycut is why he retired. My poiint exactly. But the Jets should've went to him about a deadline as soon as the season ended. But everything I read had Brick completely in the dark about everything. Not exactly a smart move by MacCagnan , and now we're stuck with a LT who hasnt played in 2 years. Hope everyone loves that cap room.
Anymore Twitter links pop up tonight? Curious. Plus do you have any thought on the Clady trade that Cimini didnt already offer
I disagree. I see nothing about the way that Mac handled this that qualifies as "not smart." I think the idea that Brick was completely in the dark is silly. Even if he doesn't read the papers, I'm sure he hears rumors, and knows his play was in a serious state of decline. He could see the writing on the wall. The fact that he knew the Jets might ask him for a pay cut is what got him thinking about retirement (along with the concussion movie). Mac brought in a young replacement (Beachum) and tried to sign him. If he had, Brick might have retired earlier or been cut. He was never my favorite player to begin with, but I lost a lot of respect for him with this decision. It would have been one thing if he would have retired regardless because of concern over health and not getting a concussion. It's quite another for him to keep playing if he was gonna get his full salary, when he knew full well that he wasn't worth half that salary. That shows that he didn't give a damn about the team. Eff him. I don't think he belongs in the ROH. Staying healthy is largely a matter of luck. Lots of players work hard to stay in shape and take care of their bodies and still get injured. Brick was basically a one-dimensional LT (pass blocker).
Well if people here want to believe reporters , then its a fact that Mac had zero contact with Brick since the end of the season. That report came out even before there was talk that the team was going to approach him about a pay cut. Im kinda on Brick's side with the choice because of reasons I've already stated (his net worth , his age) but Im also against him as well because of the same reasons you are (money, cap space etc)..its funny that so many posters here cant be that way , and need to be either so way for it or so way against against it. Shouldn't be that way. Crazy how so many fans want to just give him his parade and not really consider the fact that we're left with a huge hole in our oline right now. Even with Clady.
You asked this question when Brick first retired. Ryan Clady. Now you can stop flailing like a helpless douche in this thread.
Oh geez you again? Not even gonna waste my time man. ooooo "Ryan Clady"..like you're so sure...fuck outta here with your garage. Yeah we just raped the Superbowl chaps in a trade. LOL LAUGH-ABLE
Hey goofball. I answered your first question in this thread without any qualifications. You're the one flailing. Like a helpless douche. Some people just can't be helped. By the way, my garage is probably nicer than your house.
And you answered it with a garbage answer. "Ryan Clady" like he's a top of the line answer. I guess our LT position is locked up for next season huh? Typical Jets fan. So easily satisfield and bound to be so easily disappointed.
