Jets really want to establish the #2 corner by competition, the more the merrier. I guess fans think Milliner will just come in and play injury free?
R.I.P. Dexter McDuck, the stupidest third round pick in jets history. While every other team had him graded as a 7th rounder at best, and likely undrafted, Idzik and Rex saw fit to waste a third round pick on a short corner who missed almost his entire senior season of college. I guess Dex has sure showed us he deserved that 3rd round grade from Idzik/Rex.
I actually forgot he was still on the team..... Idzik was the definition of incompetence when it came to drafting.
I love this screw the cap attitude. Who cares how far over we are? Keep spending! Not like we need a QB (If they aren't sold on Geno or Petty). Or draft picks...
NFL.com , e.g. had mcDougle ranked as the 256th best player in the draft. The guy I want the jets to take in the SECOND round that year was Gabe Jackson OL who nfl.com ranked as the 30th best player in the whole draft. Jackson was still there in the 3rd round--I was sure the jets would take him. Idzik/Rex take McDougle (bust). Oakland takes Jackson with the very next pick in the 3rd round. Tell me the jets couldn't use a mauler like Jackson on their current depleted OL. Tell me how much McDougle has done.
NFL. com is not other teams. He's not too short either. He was injured during his senior year. He didn't miss his senior year. He was injured at the time the media started rating the players and was off the media's radar. By some accounts it was his 'pro day' that got him on scouts radar, well after the media reports were out. The media can second guess nearly every pick that was made, by any team. Dennis Thurmond knew of him and is the one who brought his attention to Idzick. He missed his first season with the ACL. He started to play more last year as the season progressed coming off the ACL. He was in the rotation at the end. This signing probably has little to do with McDougle. It would be a big help if they both make the roster I'm not defending Idzick, Rex, or Thurmond. Or necessarily the pick where it came. But I haven't written off McDougle tho, and still hold out hope for him. More than Milliner actually. Fuck what the media said during that period. Fuck the last regime also.
