I remember becoming a true NY Jet fan the day Joe Willy Namath was signed.

So we have something in common.

    Be honest.

If GeNo ends up on another team...will you follow him there?

Three days before the game, tired of addressing the issue in the press, Namath responded to a heckler in Miami with the line: "We're going to win the game. I guarantee it."

In the game, Namath backed up his boast. The Colts' vaunted defense was unable to contain the Jets' running or passing game, while the ineffective offense gave up four interceptions to the Jets. Namath was the game's MVP, completing eight passes to George Sauer alone, for 133 yards. The win made him the first quarterback to start and win a national championship game in college, to start and win a major professional league championship, and to start and win a Super Bowl. His "guarantee" was initially ignored or ridiculed when made, but it became legendary after the Jets' upset of the Colts.[24]

Namath acquired legendary status for American Football League fans as the symbol of their league's legitimacy.

    Just fucking beautiful.

Sometimes being old has it's advantages.

But I am sure Willie has seen Geno practice. Not as much of a guess.

GeNo could end up starting for us.

    Stranger things have happened.

    He does come cheap.

    GeNo is the new stop-gap.

His jersey sales will remain nil.

    Here's my theory.

If you're a stupid person you are going to gravitate towards stupid football players.

Say that you are barely literate and cannot write a passable English, you are going to root for stupid players because somehow that might make you feel better about yourself if that dumb player succeeds.

Now that wouldn't be bad if we're talking about a raving lunatic linebacker like Burfict or a crazy whack job like Dez because guys like that at those positions can get away with being stupid.

But you can't have a dumbass at QB. He not only needs to be smart, he needs to be one of if not THE brightest guys on the field.

High football IQs, high IQs in general make for more successful QBs.

Dumb QBs, no matter how physically talented, will not consistently succeed.

Sure they may throw up a perfect score in a meaningless game but they'll also throw up a zero point zero in a game that matters.

    Just spitballin here.

Terrible theory. I wish there was a Dislike button. I would use it gladly. QB in Football, playmakers in Soccer. Same thing. I know tons and tons of Soccer play-makers with zero brain playing the game beatifully. Okay. QB in Football isn't the same as play-maker in soccer.

    BUT

You can't teach talent to a super smart person(Fitz in our example).

But you can teach a talented but dumb player how to play the game.

Gailey is a QB whisperer. He made wonders with an super smart but also super average guy Fitz. I am sure he will be able to mold Geno and make him serviceable. I dislike you Stokes. I always disliked you and I will keep disliking you.

so let me guess geno for life must have started this thread... seriously let me guess the arguments he never had these weapons before (funny how everyone contently forgets about the raiders game) it was his bone headed moves that cost us that game. Never mind his 2 to 1 interception to td ratio. These same people that support him ran Mark Sanchez out of town and ironically he did just as well if not better.

Sorry I have seen geno now for two + yrs and his stupid knuckle head plays wont go with the CS. They will bench him quicker then he throws his tenth td to his 20th interception. This is the same guy who they wanted to start last yr till his mouth made a check his jaw could not cover. that should have shown everyone in the world where his head was. But let me guess he can change...3+ yrs and we are still waiting. TD Johnny did more in college and the browns cut how quick?

Face it geno is broken can he be fixed maybe but more importantly can he be fixed in NY where every move is under the microscope definitely not. Cut him spend the money on another qb

Football IQ is an intrinsic thing. It cannot be taught, you have it or you do not.

A gifted OC can hide a dumb QBs stupidity but he can't make him a consistent winner.

To bring up that boring game of soccer whilst discussing football is insulting and there is no more important position in all of sports than the NFL QB and getting a smart one is paramount.

The NSA will hunt you down so your taunts hurt me not.

As bad as GeNo is...you can't compare him to Johnny Football.

    It just ain't the same.
