Isles won't make it past first round, Capuano changes lines like women change underwear. He needs to put Strome back in the center position. Strome is playing without confidence because wing is not his natural position. He is struggling and Capuano is too stupid to realize something so simple.
In AVs defense, they stripped him of some good players and gave him limited players, I would take AV on this Islander team in a heart beat. Capuano has a good talented young team, he is just not good enough as a coach to help the team grow into contenders. AV displayed his ability to coach when he had the right players, and he still has the team in 2nd place with a limited roster.
Satisfying win, and as much as I want to beat the Caps there is a part of me that wouldn't mind seeing us fall to the first Wild Card and facing the Atlantic Teamsin the first two rounds before squaring up with the Caps or Rangers in the ECF.
What a comeback last night! I tuned in just in time to catch it. Seemed highly improbable the way the played the rest of the game.
Is it me or is Anders lee starting to play hockey like a man? If Strome and Brock Nelson decide to use their size, these guys would be crushing the competition. That's where Capuano fails, he can't get these talented young players to play like they are supposed to at this level. Jonathan Towes was a kid when he came in to the league, and 6 years in, he backs down from no one, why can't Capuano get these guys to play the type of hockey where they start throwing haymakers in front of the net like the Bruins, or Dallas? They get plunked down so fast when in front of the net, I hate to see them get pushed around. They seriously need to start playing some in your face hockey!
This islander team is not ready for the big time stage, they have no offensive awareness or skill. Tavares and Okposo are the only 2 guys that produce come crunch time. Where is Brock Nelson? What is Capuano doing? I don't have any idea what this teams Offensive and defensive philosophy is. Very frustrating to see the same weak offensive output game in and game out.
Humpty was funny yesterday making fun of Joe Benigno, an idiot trying to talk hockey bro, if want to listen to hockey talk listen to us...
Interesting Capuano not going in the locker room after the 2nd period vs Panthers, letting Taveres talk to the team, it worked
At this point in their NHL careers, there should not be any need for pep talks. These guys are not in their first year of hockey in the NHL. Tavares probably confirmed to them that Capuano does not know what he is doing and they need to fight through his incompetence as a HC. Matt, these are all playoff games at the end of the season, every point counts, they don't need their Coach telling them the urgency that is needed. Capuano is becoming like Tortorella, negative reinforcement is his style. Anders Lee is the only one that is playing physical in front of the net, and using his size, one mistake and he benched him.
Brian Strait, doing what he does best, sucking at playing defense. Capuano should be fired for giving him so much ice time.
I'm excited that the playoffs are getting close,,,,that said the same old stuff is killing me,,,,,the coach has lost me,,,,,,,,and they just don't have the talent to go far ! I have been a fan for a very long time and beating the Rangers or Caps in a series would be nice but sadly it is not about winning a series ( something we have not done in a while ) its about winning the whole damn thing ! To quote Clarke Gillies,,,,,after winning 4 cups and then falling in the finals to the Oilers was told " you guys accomplished so much and have a lot to be proud of, you came very close to making history " Jethros reply " it's about winning the cup and winning it all , coming close is not what it's about "
Do the Rangers have anyone else on they can play instead of Boyle? I follow a lot of hockey but I don't know the depth of each team. I know the islanders have the new kid Pullock but like I said before, if one mistake is made he is benched for the rest of the game and a healthy scratch for the following.
You realize they might not make it if Philadelphia continues the momentum they have built. I have been telling everyone for some time now, Capuano is a good AHL coach, he is not an NHL coach. He refuses to put Strome in his natural center position, sticks him on the wing and asks him to make plays as a winger. The kid played center all his life and now has to learn a new position at the NHL level. Who does that and expects results? He is going backwards in his development.
We have a 5 point lead on Philly; I'm not going to panic about potentially blowing that. But if we are going to be a WC I want to stay ahead of Detroit and go up against Florida in the first round.
Skjei, I saw him play. He seemed to be a big kid, stay at home defenseman with good physical play and decent offensive instincts.
