I mean, I think we mostly see that game the same way. The Seahawks clearly handed the Pats the game. But, that doesn't change the fact that Brady was also brilliant in the 4th quarter of that game. They aren't mutually exclusive realities.
Also, as a a general aside, it really shouldn't matter what team you root for. If you are approaching this question while considering how much you love or hate a particular team, then you are probably being biased. I can't stand Brady and root against him with every last breath, but I'm not going to let that factor into what I think of him as a player. I'm a die-hard Knicks fan. I hated Jordan with the intensity of 1,000 suns. He's still the best NBA player I have ever seen.
People always bring the up the Lynch thing at the goal line without pointing out the lucky ass catch to set that up. To me those things even out.

I guess that's the closest comparison, although he did get a, backup job with Seattle. Manning will never settle for something like that.

I was thinking Brad Johnson, although I don't remember if he retired or even kept playing after winning in Tampa Bay. Dude just disappeared.
It's more than just that. Not about playing. It's about finding a team that can win, that wants him and has the tools to help him succeed. I don't see that team right now. He did not either. If Denver released him and Peyton did a free agent tour, some team would definitely sign him.
Good luck Peyton. As a Pats fan the two QBs I didn't like to see were Peyton and Marino. Really they were at a different level.
he's up there crying like a bitch in his presser. I changed my mind. Not the best ever. I like my quarterbacks to not be cry babies. That eliminates Brady too
Sue the man for having emotions for leaving the one thing he has loved and played his entire life. Peyton is the best QB ever, but I think his retirement means even more than that. His connections to Marino, or Summerall/Madden commentating, epic battles with Pennington, Brady, etc. Back to back playoff fights with Rex, Peyton represents a lot of the NFL history I love. The game won't be the same now. Thank you Peyton.
