I've been a Bowles supporter thus far, but did our HC just say his own players got the ST coach fired? This is some cryptic shit. If you fire a coach, at least say there was a reason YOU fired him. "It's between him and the players" is a fucking cop out, bar none. If there was a rift between coach and players, just say it.
Where did you hear this? I watched his press conference and I think he just meant April did not coach good enough, but another factor was they did not have enough quality players on special teams.
April is an old school coach who's approach is very back in the day ,the league passed him by and the players knew it and probably didn't buy into him and his bs routine .Id like to see what they did at practice because it didn't show.April was once the special teams coach of the year.....like 15 years ago

The players must have quit on the coach. Its a legit reason to fire a head coach, why not a for a special teams coordinator too? It's not like April had a wonderful resume before coming in here too.
Um actually he did....I guess being a special teams coach/coordinator since 1992 and being special teams coach of the year twice isn't a good resume?He was the coordinator for 7 other NFL teams before coming here,and got another job as soon as we fired him.I feel like he had nothing to work with but maybe the problem ran deeper then that
Special Teams was broken last year. Bowles has a right and an obligation to make changes. He fired April, which people were happy with when he did. Why develop this into some controversy?
Because fans and the media want exact details. Bowles is keeping it in house saying it's really none of our freaking business, Bowles just said it in a nice way.
Agreed. April may be a great coach, and maybe wasnt given a fair deal with the Jets, but the performance spoke for itself and someone had to bear responsibility. April was responsible for special teams. Case closed.
Who cares why he was fired and what the reason was? Special Team were an embarrassment and April is gone. Next....
Sounded like standard Boss speak regarding a fired employee. If there was some disconnect between April and the ST Unit, it certainly showed on the field last season. Perhaps April just wasn't a good fit HERE. Shit happens... Time to move on..
