I thought both teams played really good defensive hockey, one of the better games I have seen from both teams in this rivalry. I'm so glad goon hockey is out of hockey, if this were old school hockey there would have been too many penalties and not enough hockey. Hayes is a good player for the Rangers, if he ever developes scoring ability, he is going to be dangerous, I hope the islanders keep him on their radar just in case he becomes a FA. It seems like there is a lot of parity in the NHL this year, no many teams have pulled away from the pack yet, other than the Canadiens.
Islanders are still playing relatively well,,,,,but I will say it again " it sure would be nice if 91 had someone to actually play with besides Brock Nelson ".....ps awesome OT goal by Okposso last nite
I don't know how they are going to find someone, we would expect for one of the young guys to step up and take his game to the next level, I really don't know how they are going to get that second all star player. As much as I don't like Capuano, I have to give him credit for moving guys in and out of that wing position next to JT, he is trying to give these guys a shot to prove themselves. I think the system that they are being asked to play also takes a little away from their offensive abilities. It's a defense oriented style of play, with a heavy forecheck and the counter attack as secondary. Hopefully when they trade Hamonic they can get a good offensive playmaker in return.
Time for a bump,,,,,team playing well,,,,,,but I really feel like the time to make a move is soon,,,,,get the chemistry going and gel,,,,,,,,I really can't believe the plan is to sit back with what they currently have
There is a lot of parity in the NHL, the isles are in the same boat as most other teams, why screw up with something that is not bad at this point. Look at what the ducks did, they got rid of 3 good role players to let the young players have some ice time and it has come back to bite them. Honestly I thought Brock Nelson would take off this year, but in JC defense first scheme it's hard for some of these guys to reach their offensive potential. I don't even know who is out there right now, is anyone being shopped around? What do they do know that Boychuck is out? Just when everything was going well
Menace,,,,,these kids are not taking the next step,,,in my eyes anyways. This team can win games and they can even win a round or 2 in the playoffs but unless one of our goalies stands on his head they will not go farther than that . 91 needs someone to play with can you imagine how great he would actually be playing with someone ? It's the chicken or the egg,,,,looks like Cappy is not going anywhere so its defense first,,,,,Like I said I would rather have a guy or guys that I know " can do it" than keep hoping for these kids to come around .
But who is out there that can make an immediate impact on offense? Phil Kessel went to the Penguins, Ryan Kessel wen from Vancouver to the Ducks, I think. There is no one else out there that I can think of that I would love to have on this team playing next to 91. Now we have Strait playing on defense for Boychuck, the defense is going to be terrible with strait back there, I really don't know why he is still on the team.
I would be burning up the phone lines calling everyone,,,,,,,,,I'm going to take a look at who might be available ,,,,,, Ederle ? Duchene ? Ladd ? These 3 immediately come to mind
Time for a bump, watching them against the Caps, feels like this team just can't take their offensive game to another level. No one to help 91 once again.
Menace ,,,,I watched that cap game ( also think our goalie was interfered with on the 3 rd goal but I stray ) it is just so hard watching 91 by himself,,,,,I talk to a few buddies about this for 2 years now same conversation,,,,some guys are finally in my camp as they wanted to wait for a couple of these young guys to develop,,,,,,just give me a legitimate playmaker to play with him,,,,could you imagine how great he would be if he actually played with some one ? If they go to the playoffs with this group,it will be the same result, might win a round or 2 but hen they are done the playoffs are a totally different animal,,,,,,,rant over
They won't make the playoffs, they will go into their customary slide at the end of the year, especially when they start facing the more offensively talented teams. Can you imagine where they would be if Brock Nelson did not have 20 plus goals? I'm tired of Bailey and his 7 years of unfulfilled potential, my other point of contention with the NHL is their watered down talent level. Too many teams and not enough NHL caliber players. A lot of the players in the NHL are AHL players, that have benefited from too much expansion.
Snow screwed up big time with that move, he should have kept Moulson over Grabner. Even though neither one played defense, Moulson had great chemistry with Tavares. I'm all for bringing him back and getting rid of Josh Bailey. Move Strome, Lee, and Nelson around the 2nd and 3rd lines.
I cant wait to beat the Caps in the playoffs. I'll gladly have the Isles fall to the wild card to knock them out in the first round.
Good time for a bump,,,,,but man if 91 only had someone else to play with ! As of right now see the Islanders going 2 rounds at best in the playoffs,,,
AV brainfart, Staal 17 of 19 on faceoffs, put your worst faceoff centerman out to lose the faceoff clean and setup the game winning goal
