With a team like NE up there, they need to at minimum win 5 divisional games. Jets won 3 this year, it was a major difference. If the Jets beat the Bills twice, they would have won the division.
I don't see him playing for the decade you have to play to become one of those guys. I think he's more likely to have a Kurt Warner experience and eventually get dragged down by the wear and tear. I also think the team is going to get worse around him over time as the talent begins to dry up under the pressure of late 1st round picks and the talent in the FO getting continually poached by other teams. He's had a great 4 year run and he may be able to extend it but he had a ton of talent around him and he's been lucky with the injuries so far. One of the things that makes Eli a generational QB is his ability to take the hits and keep getting up. That and the fact that if you extend his career to it's logical conclusion he will throw about 400 TD passes and another 20-odd in the playoffs. He's going to pass John Elway and Fran Tarkenton on the all-time TD list and he's got a real shot at Marino at 420. He's fairly likely to wind up at 5th all-time on the TD pass list, with Philip Rivers and Ben Roethlisberger both on his tail. We're 11 years into the careers of the 2004 QB class and Eli has more TD passes than either Roethlisberger or Rivers at this point. Roethlisberger is clearly a generational QB and Rivers would be also if he'd won 2 Super Bowls.
The problem is that only a few teams ever bother to show up vs the Pats. Those teams are the Jets, Ravens, and Dolphins in Miami. The rest of the NFL usually lies down in the face of Brady.
No. Not until the Pats lose a game or two to a bad team ---which we and most teams do, but they do not. Not when the season still matters. Sometimes they get caught early, but it is usually one game. They are just too efficient and too consistent. And they have a great QB and head coach. He is a master of the 3 step drop and has uncanny accuracy int he center of the field. Tough to beat over the course of a season. Playoffs are something else..
5 straight AFC title game appearances,Tired of seeing basically the same teams make it into the playoffs every year especially the Pats
I agree. I just think, objectively, it is hard to see them losing the way they are built. Finding Brady and then Gronkowski made this franchise.
Its tired and boring at this point, hopefully this shit comes to an end soon.Id like to see diffrent teams fighting for that spot
I gave up a few years back. Until the Brady/BB regime ends either via retirement or injury, the Jets will not win the division. I've seen Miami dominate the division, then the Bills, and now the seemingly endless Pats dynasty. The Jets have to be way overdue, right? RIGHT????
You'd think so, but its probably been our turn during the Pats long run. So when the Pats falter, it'll be Miami's turn again.
The reason we dont ever win the division is because we pass on marino.. We pass on brady... And we do stupid shit like give revis qb money when he is past his prime. How on earth are we supposed to win our divison when year after year we make the dumbest mistakes. Even this year the only reason we won 10 games is because geno got punched in the face.. And you know what we are gonna do next year? Pay fitz 10mil a year. Tom brady and gronk cap space 2016 22 mil.. Revis and fitz best case scenario 25mil thats why we never win the division.
On the positive side we split our 2 meetings this year with NE, the first we were right in it and lost by 7 As Ive posted before, Pats are beatable and we are one or two players away, even with Fitz, to staying competitive Believe it or not Buffalo is presenting more of a problem the way we match up lately. Still we should beat them as well Mac will help get this fixed. The difference will be the coaching
I suppose us along with the other 2 teams in the division could say the same thing. Reality is the Pats are a historic team led by a HOF QB who may be GOAT. Don't let your Jet fandom get in the way of this obvious fact. Our day will come, it's just not today unfortunately.
we pass on Brady? Like every other team in the NFL did.....6 times? Give me a break. You saw the only reason we won 10 games is bc Geno got punched in the face? The ONLY reason Brady every stepped on an NFL field is by accident when Bledsoe got hurt. Also comparing our cap management to Brady and Gronk cap numbers is blind....It's an entirely different scenario. The Pats have a legit shot to win a ring EVERY year. That helps matters in attracting and retaining players. Teams not named the Pats have to pay more money to attract players. That's just the real world.
unlikely to happen next year, pats will bring back basically the same roster and their younger guys are starting to really come into their own defensively (collins, chandler jones, mccourty). hard to preduct our roster so early on, but next year we have to play: cardinals, seahawks, steelers, bengals, Rams, Ravens, Niners, Browns. thats alot tougher then the out of division schedule we had last year. i think this was the year we needed to compete, i see next year as more of a 8-8 type year
