A true burner WR that can actually catch. Solidify the OLine. A dynamic change of pace back. A healthy Amaro. _
Awesome list. Quite comprehensive. a burner would match up great with Marshall and Decker. But he needs to catch the ball. Not sure if the OL is second on my list, but it definitely needs attention on the right side, and Ferguson's contract is a problem.
Get more RB's so the Jets don't have to go spread as much as they did in the late season. Revamp the o-line with a couple of picks early on, make it a strength again instead of the slow decline we're observing. Mangold has 3 good years left on a strong line and 3 average ones on a weak line.
Better RT, better RG and better RB, in that order of priority. Of courlse you ain't buring 1st rounder on any of the three.
A play maker WR that can compliment Marshall and Decker, but can also be dangerous in the kick return game. Kind of like Tyler Lockett on the Seahawks.
Ask Chan Gailey Great posts but Chan doesn't use a TE When Amaro is back he will have to be used in some way The most obvious answer is a revamped OL with DF restructured, Powell resigned but sorry Ivory replaced by a game breaker. In short linemen and RBs
1. The team needs a franchise QB badly. I don't think Fitzpatrick is what this team really needs. He is more of a game manager than a weapon. I understand the desire to have him return. He did better than anyone expected, but his success was more predicated on the Jet defense keeping the opponents off the scoreboard than him being a strong offensive threat. Having said that, I don't think there is one of those "can't miss" QB's in this draft so I would be hesitant to go QB in round 1. 2. There are two intriguing RB's in this draft (Elliott and Henry) that could add another dimension to the offense which needs more help than the defense. With the Jets drafting around #20 either one of these two could be available. Both are considered first round material acknowledging that teams are reluctant to draft RB's in round 1 these days. Assuming Ivory and Powell return, the Jets could have a very formidable backfield with one of these guys that would help open up the passing game with very little risk. I'm thinking of the Giants a few years ago when they had Jacobs, Ward and Bradshaw. That was a pretty potent backfield and hard to stop. 3. Jets still need a deep threat receiver because we don't know about Smith. Unfortunately, this is not a strong draft year for WR. 4. I'm not convinced the O-line needs to be upgraded. Jets were second in fewest sacks allowed so that has to mean these guys are doing something right.
Offensive line. Tackles and guards that can open holes and keep the pocket clean can affect the productivity of whatever QBs, RBs and WRs the Jets throw out there. That's were the Jets need to focus.
Is Chan coming back next year? There were rumors he might retire or wasn't sure. Considering he was retained I would assume he is.
If we can get Thomas for a 3rd you pull the trigger today. I just highly doubt we have the money for Miller though unfortunately. Trade for Thomas, then draft a stud ILB in round 1, run blocking guard in round 2 and this team solidifies two huge weaknesses.
You don't make much sense, ya know? 1. You claim Fitzpatrick is not a franchise QB. [I am by no means thinking he is a top tier QB.] 2. But then you claim the OL is not a high priority because Jets didn't allow many sacks. So I have to question - if you bothered watching the Jets game this season at all. True, Jets offense didn't allow that many sacks - that's on record. But how much of that goes to the OL? Because last time I checked, it was Fitzpatrick moving in the pocket [1] or running for daylight [2] to avoid sacks. There were some games where Fitzpatrick enjoyed nice little protection, but at other times he was making plays with his savvy footwork [or running.] While Fitzpatrick isn't Drew Brees, you can't be saying [We don't need him, because he's trash] then use the stats that HIS presence provided. If you watched any handful of games, you'd have easily recognized what a shamble the right side has been all season long. With Nick and Brick getting old, OL is going to be a top priority in a few seasons to come. [Of course Macc has an unenviable job of restocking the LB corps too while tending the OL. You can either thank or blame T-bomb and Idzik for this fiasco.]
1. New right side of the offensive line either through free agency, trades, or the draft. 2. Draft a fast running back with good hands 3. Find out if Amaro can be a threat in the passing game, and draft another good receiving tight end. 4. Find a third receiver with deep speed to stretch defenses, do what Devin Smith failed to do last season.
You want to draft a running back with speed and hands when Powell has finally come on during the the end of the season? I'd say he's a major reason why we went on that 5 game winning streak. And he will likely be available for cheap since he only has less than half a season of significant production this year. Save that draft pick when we can try to make a run at Christian McCaffrey.
Why the hell not? I would gladly have a pro bowl player in any of those three spots. Would you rather have Vernon Gholsten? Kyle Wilson? Dee Millner? Unless you are talking about a damned kicker you take the best available player instead of worrying about position unless the right QB. etc. drops in your lap. Even then you should thing really hard before passing up that stud at guard or RB.
