Fucking Derell, I told the FO it's Darrelle and that they were signing an impostor to a big contract but they refused to listen.
More than likely trying to stat pad and get interceptions for his HOF bid. Revis needs to take a paycut
Revis is being paid as a one on one 'Revis Island' shut down half the field CB. Yesterday it became very clear he's no longer that CB. I'm Not mad at any of the players or coaches, stuff happens. But I am upset that we're paying #1 premium cap space for a CB that is no longer the #1 CB...top 10 sure, but no longer a clear cut #1.
Did you want my scenario to cover every defensive play we could have called? The point is that the Defensive gameplan CLEARLY called for Revis to not let Watkins behind him under any circumstances and to sacrifice whatever came underneath to that end. But you think Revis should have said "Screw your game plan, I'm Revis Island, and I'm going to press him!" For everyone who is saying Revis was too proud to ask for help, it looks to me like Revis showed a lot of humility in continuing to follow his assignment despite what it was doing to his stat line. Bowles and company bet the house that Taylor wouldn't have the accuracy to consistently get the ball to him underneath, even with a considerable cushion, and they lost the bet, over and over and over. I'm not here to defend Revis. I would actually much prefer that it was his fault, I just don't think it is.
They most certainly were not matched up man to man on every play. Bowles said it himself they played a lot of zone to keep Watkins from going deep
Has to be Revis The biggest problem yesterday was our 3rd down defense. WE COULD NOT STOP THEM and the time of possession fucked us
No he wasn't. Bowles said yesterday he was in zone part of The game. And I just listens to him live on the Michael Kay show and he just reiterized how he had Revis in zone for parts of the game.
This is a pretty good point, Woods was hobbled, Clay- out, McCoy- out and our second receiver was some guy named Salas. You would think STOP Watkins and spy Tyrod would be the game plan.
And that is why the Jets lost the TOP battle, and ultimately the game. They played scared as shit ... nearly 50% success rate on 3rd down (9 for 20), in a season where the Jets opponents only converted 33.2% of 3rd down plays. That's a recipe for disaster and Bowles / Revis should be ashamed of themselves. Even if they let 1 deep pass go for a TD, it's better than never getting the football in the first place and limiting the chances on offense. They had nearly 40 minutes of TOP. You guys had NO ONE cept Watkins and Karlos Williams.
of those three, the punter by far! revis does not call the defense, nor does fitz call the offense. fact of the matter is the entire defense failed to show up. t.j. conley could have done a better job this year as the punter, even with a broken leg.
Revis. Hi salary, his experience, he needed to step up and make plays yesterday and Watkins killed the game right in front of him. And then he snuck out after the game. He is supposed to be a leader. Quigley is ridiculous but he is what he is, and he has been all year. Fitz, no way could I blame him with the way he played all year and even yesterday-- he was hitting his WRs and they were dropping them.
New Thread : How long will this loss resonate in your head and yer gut For me it is still just sinking and stinking in Probably a month Unfuckng believable loss to a group we had some faith in...bad bad bad
We guaranteed a corner 39 million to not allow receivers like Watkins crush us on 3rd down and that's exactly what happened yesterday. We knew going into the season Fitz would have games like yesterday and that Quigley was complete shit. Revis by far.
Honestly I am just hoping that one day a super bowl win washes over all these things and we can start fresh.
I was thinking the same thing 15 years ago, 5 years ago... I am not sure how old you are but waiting can be habit forming lol
