Thanks. I used to sell men's clothing and they were called "A-Shirts" for "Athletic" shirts. The funny thing was that I never saw any young, athletic men buying them, only old men.
yeah it was always something old italian guys wore then at some point in the 90s i think younger guys started wearing them. i dont know i always thought they were completely uncomfortable and if i was going to wear that little of a shirt i might as well not wear one at all. it would be perfect for rex to be up there all fat looking with some ragu stains on it showing off his mark sanchez tat though.
Yes, but it is that $22 million worth screwing your fans and franchise for the next 4-10 years and being raped by the media in the meantime?
I think if they bomb the last two games it's something to consider. There is still a ton of talent up there and keeping rex is going to result in that team being gutted. Keeping Rex probably means Whatley is gone and the Idzick situation happens again. You have a gm saddled with Rex having to draft Cb's a d line guys year after year to replace the existing talent he's currently running out of town. Or draft guys that the new gm wants and shut Rex out of the process. In either case Buffalo is set back years digging out.
The issue is you're talking about sports here. It's not a profession that's going to attract the smartest minds for the most part. These guys are great at what they know, football, but that doesn't mean that they are good at the other aspects of the job, namely logical decision making. Most of these guys rely on emotion to make their decisions because it's what they know. For every cerebral guy like Belichick there are 29 meatheads like Rex. I think you see it much more in football than in most other sports though. Most of the time I just think of my high school gym teacher and realize that essentially many of these guys are that guy making millions.
You're absolutely correct. I know that with my mind, but it still drives me crazy. Your last sentence really hit me between the eyes. My high school gym coach was one of the biggest dumbasses I've ever met. If he's making a million bucks somewhere, I'm really gonna be depressed! LOL At least both of my Jr. High coaches had the sense to get out of coaching and became Realtors.
I don't think that's really fair either. Most NFL coaches are workaholics that put in 16-hour days. Guys like Rex, Spurrier and Carroll v1.0 are in the minority and rarely ever succeed in the NFL.
Are you saying Rex doesn't work 16 hour days? I think he works long hours 7 days a week like all the other HCs. It's not like he's just slacking off, he's trying hard but at the wrong things. His problem is not learning from his mistakes. Also I feel like he lost his mojo when he got weight loss surgery.
I think that's the most frustrating thing about rex. If you weren't so stubborn and put even a little effort into addressing your shortcomings (hire a game manager assistant for advice in game, learn about offense or surround yourself with good offensive people, use disciplined people). If he put an little effort into the above things, he could be a great coach. But no, I'm buddy ryan's son, I know everything just like buddy did(no superbowls by the way). Just seems to think he is doing everything right and has no need to change. It really is frustrating to watch wasted talent when he was here, when just a little effort into learning would make him great. Ironically the same flaw of Buddy's has been passed on to his son. They're like the family of morons down the street who will always be trash because they refuse to change their ways. The old man taught him this is the way you do things and I believe that Rex honestly believes hes on the right track.
If he does work 16-hour days it's fifteen hours on the defense and one planning out his press conferences.
I disagree that Rex could become a "great" coach with some work. I don't think Rex is capable of becoming a "great" coach. One has to be good before one can be great, and Rex isn't even "good." He's overrated as a defensive coach imo. He rarely is able to come up with any adjustments if his game plan doesn't work. His teams are often totally unprepared. He comes up with a couple of great game plans a year, and the rest of his game plans are mediocre or worse. No good coach is undisciplined and refuses to hold his players accountable. No good coach refuses to learn and grow or refuses to see his weaknesses, much less refuse to work on them. No good coach puts additional pressure on his team with stupid predictions and bulletin board material. No good coach always has his team unprepared following a Bye week. No good coach continually talks tough but then has his team play "soft" when the chips are down.
I want that loud mouth...undisciplined piece of shit coach to lose at the hands of the former Buffalo QB and best QB we have honestly had since Joe Willie. Let's do our beat to own Buffalo...Travel deep and bury Rex in between Pegula's toes.
He is already talking about the jets getting the best shot from Buffalo next week. I guess that's the only thing he can say at this point. I'm not really worried about him anymore, the first game was lost by our HC, I think he will be a little smarter this time around. The jets should win next week, they just need to keep it clean.
Or 2009 and we crushed the Bengals only to play the Bengal in the playoffs and win again. That week 17 game though with Brad Smith returning a TD to start the game was great.
At least Bill doesn't have to give Rex pointers on how to tank a game. Rex is a natural at it...unintentionally, of course.
