Bellicheck was the one that called the defend: @JeffRoberts Belichick on electing to defer in OT: "I thought it was the best thing to do."
Don't think it was bullshit. Before the coin toss the ref gets the call from both coaches if they win the toss. Ref apparently was told by Bellicheck that he will defer
Pats wanted to defend. What they screwed up -- was the direction. Just watch what happens. He says something like -- don't we get to choose. The announcers messed it up. (In addition -- they showed a conversation before the toss -- and it seemed -- although I cant lipread -- that that's what they wanted).
Sounds like the coach is going to bat for his player. Just listen to Slater tell the ref he thought they get to choose.
BB is just too smart to think giving a team the ball with a chance to end the game was "the best thing to do." Makes no sense.
1) Questionable play calling 2) Sitting on the ball at the end of first half with 2 minutes. 3) Blowing your final time out for no reason when getting the ball back at the end of the game (37 seconds left) 4) Electing to kick in OT Tis the season for giving. Pats coaching staff did everything in their power to intentionally tank this game. Problem was, Jets almost took it upon themselves to lose it. Bill and Brady reading from same canned script during press conference.
