I don't disagree that they'd like to eventually upgrade to a young, talented player (who wouldn't?), but I do disagree with the notion that it's Geno. I think they've moved on from him. Bowles has already stated he wants Fitz back next year. The leadership and the way the team rally's behind Fitz speaks volumes. I really don't think they'd replace that for Geno's "potential".
My perception of Fitzpatrick was that of a bad QB because whenever I saw him play he looked like Matt Cassel against us in week 15. But he more than exceeded my expectations and he's responded well after those horrible games in November. He's made plays and he's playing like a top 10 QB this season. I respect what Fitz has done all year, he's stabilized the position and he's won over his teammates and fans. This is something the other QBs on the roster should pay attention to and hopefully learn from.

Saying he want's Fitz back is not the same as saying he wants Geno gone. Jets can only go one of three ways: Cut Geno, promote Petty to BU, and draft a 3rd string QB. Or Keep Geno and let him battle it out with Fitz (again). Or declare Fitz the starter and let Petty and Geno battle it out for the job of clip-board-holder.
