We are becoming a top team we just need to win out to secure that playoff spot to give us the chance
Def has a feeling of 10-11

We'd easily be underdogs vs. Cincy with Dalton although I'd bet a ton of people would bet on us.

If we get in and avoid Pittsburgh and Denver we have a decent shot. That means we'd have to ideally matchup with the AFC South winner in round one, New England in round 2 needing a miraculous win like 2010, and take on Cincy in the championship game.

I think Denver w/ Peyton or Osweiler and Pittsburgh would beat us easily. I doubt we can score with the Steelers or score at all vs. Denver. In my eyes Denver wins something like 20-7 and Pittsbirth could blow us out something to the tune of 35-17.

It's a matchup problem. The Steelers have way too many weapons to blitz against them especially with the way Ben sheds defensive backs trying to tackle him. I think Denver would keep us around 220 yards of offensw. Two elite corners, and if Ware's healthy 3 really good pass rushers and a stifling run defense vs. Teams that try to force the run because they can't pass effectively.

Which is why getting that 5th seed is so crucial if a division win isn't possible (which very likely isn't).

I actually think we could match the Steelers in a shootout, I wouldn't count us out in that matchup.

Alot of teams we played are better than their record :

Giants almost beat NE , have prob Hall of Fame receiver in Beckham and SB Eli. May beat the Panthers this weekend

Phil Eagles: Beat bad Shady and Bellicheat; Followed up with beat down of Rex and the "good" Shady

Oakland: Turning out to be a very good team beatin Den prob can beat KC

Winning out will be the biggest Win of all...tremendous confidence booster= can go punch for punch with ne one IMHO

Tonights Vegas spread is about 3...??? We are 8-5 vs 4-9 Cowboys?? the spread is low because of lack of respect for Jets or Boys not that bad? go figure

We match up really well vs them since we have so many corners. A Revis and Skrine combo can somewhat contain Antonio. Cro just cant get beat on a double move by Bryant and we should be okay. They won't be able to run the ball. The biggest thing against them is taking Ben down when you get to him. Too many times in previous matchups we would get to him, but not finish the play. On the other side of the ball, they can't stop Marshall or Decker. That I am not worried about. We just need to stop them 1 more time than they stop us.

I couldn't disagree more about Pitt. The 5th seed is crucial because you get to play Indy or Houston in the first game.
Which means pretty good chance of getting NE in the divisional round.

Of all the possible playoff teams, NE included, I think the Steelers would be the by far the worst case scenario. They could drop over 40 points on us.

Agree.... they are playoff hungary like us and have a top tier QB

We will find out about Squeerlers on Sunday

Do they drop 40 on Denver? Then the Denver defense is for sh*t and we might have a better one

Ben R should get bulled rushed and hit hard...maybe take steam outta him...someone wins by 3 pts vs Den

Reality is Jets are not playing their best ball of the season and need bucketloads of help from inferior competition to get into playoffs. At this point, they are closer to being eliminated, than qualifying. A loss to the Pats next week will pretty much dash their postseason hopes.

Not being in control of their own destiny obviously puts them at a disadvantage...but...stranger things have happened. Time will tell if it is a team of destiny. Still having interest in the season in late December is a bonus for any Jets' fan.

we have to beat a team that has lost twice this season. some of you are acting like that is a given. On top of that we need tons of help. lets beat the patriots first and then we can talk about all the what if scenarios.

Jets lose all the tie breakers with the Steelers and the Chiefs so the only way the Jets get to the playoffs is if they win one more game than either of those two teams, a tie won't do it.

The problem, the Jets have a very difficult opponent who hates the Jets next week.
The Steelers and the chiefs have a pretty easy remaining schedule.

My prediction, the Jets finish with 10 wins and miss the playoffs.

    You are incorrect.
Jets getting in never truly hinged on Pitt or KC - BECAUSE THAT WAS NEVER GOING TO HAPPEN.
The most likely and probable scenario for the Jets has always been over DENVER, which only now needs to lose to Cincy which is pretty likely

The Jets are basically in the same spot they were, they need to beat the Pats -- in that aspect you are correct.

If the Jets can find a way to win Sunday, I am very optimistic in the Oakland beating Kansas City scenario.

The Jets definitely need to go 11-5 though.

i think the pats, begnals, steelers, and chiefs all beat us by double digits. i think we could bea the colts. i dont see us winning @ denver. texans already beat us once

superbowl? have we even beat a team with a qb who isnt some horrible scrub or 3rd string backup this year? even the mediocure qbs we faced pretty much tore us a new one

Yeah wrong.... best chance was yesterday Steelers losing to Denver...not sure how that was never gonna happen when they were up by 17. And their second best chance was/is KC losing to the Raiders.

If I'm correct in that aspect then I'm correct in all the aspects. The Bronco's aren't going to lose 2 games. The Bengals aren't the team they were with Dalton at QB and the Jets will drop one of the two games vs the Bills or the Pats, most likely vs the Pats.

I stand by my 10-6 final record and the team missing the playoffs.

Denver losing at home to Cincy is likely? Broncos D is going to chew up and spit out McCarron. I give Cincy maybe a 25% chance to win, they're a very good team but the loss of Dalton will be glaring in this one.

In my view, our best bet is to win out and then Raiders beat the Chiefs. I think the Raiders have a decent chance to play spoiler that final week.

I stand by what I said BEFORE this weeks games even started. Chiefs are not losing, Steelers are not losing. Denver losing 2 was and still is our best shot.

Bengals beating Denver in Denver is way more likely, than the Steelers losing at home to the Broncos was.

The Steelers have the best offense in football and the Broncos are a sham.

Bengals are a complete team, much better than the Broncos and the 3 points usually attributed for home field.
