I don't quite understand your grades lol Bilal Powell had an awesome game. He averaged 12 yards per carry on the ground and had another awesome TD completion off a screen. He gets a B? Eric Decker had a great game. He caught at least 4 first down passes off third down. Had 74 yards and a TD. He gets a B? Not sure how you are grading these players lol
It fluctuates between 40-70%, that's just way too inconsistent. He's not gonna be Russell Wilson or Cousins, guys that complete 70% each week, but I rather have him at 60% each week instead of 40% one week and 75% the next.
An A would be player of the week worthy. The numbers that guys like Julio Jones or Antonio Brown put up, or Adrian Peterson, like 30 carries for 150 yards. Powell had 3 carries for 36 yards, 24 on one play out of the shotgun. He had a great game for a change of pace back / 3rd down back but if that's an A then we'd have A's for almost everybody. Decker had 7 catches for 74 yards and a TD, it's a good game but nothing to write home about. He had a 230 yard game last season, do you give him the same grade for that performance?
He's been under a 55% completion twice in 13 games... He's been generally sitting in the 55-60% range.
That's why I don't buy into the hype when you hear people already hoping we lock him up and commit to him for next year. He went from trash (camp) to savior (first quarter of the season) to trash (middle of the season) to savior (now) again, according to most Jets fans. He's the right guy for this year but let's not get crazy. I'm all for bringing him back to compete, to help out Petty and start games for us if Petty goes down, but that's about it. At this point all it takes is one bad game for Jets fans to turn on him again, one game that eliminate us from the playoffs, one bad playoff performance. And you know it's going to happen. He's not gonna be perfect for the rest of the year and be great in the playoffs again. There's no need to commit to anybody right now, let's see how the season goes and then in the offseason we have half a year to make a decision.
This is what I was referring to last week when talking Mo, that's when this whole "effort" thing started. At times he'll just back off from rushing and just spy and try to contain the QB. When people see this during the game they might think he's lazy or he doesn't give good effort when really it's his awareness that takes over, maybe even designed for him to do just that. Either way, this time it worked out perfectly. Mariota for a second thought about pulling off another 80 yard run or something, until he saw Wilkerson going after him.
But that's unfair. A guy like Powell is not a featured back. He had 3 carries and a couple catches. He had Adrian Peterson numbers equivalent to the amount of times he touched the ball. In your system, Powell can never get an A because he will never touch the ball as many times as Peterson. Powell averaged 12 ypc and had a great screen pass he ran in for a TD, shedding multiple tackles. For the work Powell was given, he deserves an A. The same as Decker. Decker isn't the number one receiver. Of course he's not gonna get the amount of catches and chances Antonio Brown gets. Oh well. It's just a forum. So it's all in good fun
Well Fitz was just awarded player of the week. So if your true to your word you gotta go curve that Fitz grade up to an A
Far from lazy... in fact his awareness is amazing. Had he bull rushed there Mariota woulda took that up the middle for a 1st (or a straight up season ending injury caused by Harris and Pryor b/c they were waiting to destroy that kid lmfao). But it's crazy how Mo shut that down so effortlessly.
I don't know why it's so important to you? An A is a game that's about as good as one can have, at least to me. That was definitely not the case with Powell or Fitz. Fitz gained 1/3 of his yards and 1/3 of his TD passes on a single play when nobody bothered to cover Marshall. That wasn't exactly great QB play. And he had 2-3 passes that should have been picked. He had A games this season, the Titans game just wasn't one but that's just my opinion. If you think he was perfect in that game that's cool too.
It's not THAT important to me. It's just as important to me as it is to you, who created the grading system. Was just questioning it. And you claim that an A goes to a player who has a player of the week kind of day. Fitz was named player of the week. He deserves an A
Some love for the Big Cat. Gets going like a freight train when he tastes some blood. Also, watch Douzable struggle to beat a guy half his size.
But how can you question me giving him a B instead of an A? I didn't give him a D. He just wasn't amazing, he was good. Am I wrong in saying that? Do you think he was that good? I know he was just handed the award but to me the performance should define the award not the other way around. I don't think that was player of the week worthy but considering the weak QB play this week where his only competition was Bortles they had to give the award to somebody. I'm just surprised they went with Fitz over Bortles or even Crowell from the Browns.
Yes, I think he deserves an A. Why? Well, because he was great. He had some iffy throws, like every QB in every game, but when he needed to be, he spot on. He made an amazing throw to Powell at an insane arm angle for the TD. He completed many big third downs. He used his feet to gain positive yardage. He avoided sacks and got rid of the ball quickly. He also was the whole reason Marshall had that huge play. Fitz saw the lack of coverage immediately. Calmly approached Mangold, called for the snap, and hit him perfectly in stride for a TD. It's one thing seeing it. It's an entirely different thing completing the action perfectly on the fly. He finished the game with 3 TDs 0 INT, and a big time rating. He was great. The first Drive of the game set the tone. He was the main reason for that drive. Yes, I think Fitz deserves an A.
