No it isn't. There aer no gimmie games in the NFL. It's a game they SHOULD win, but would you be surprised of San Diego beat a divisional opponent? I sure wouldn't

I can also see KC losing to Oakland last game of the season. Oakland out played them in every way possible, except the most important, the score.

When I say "somewhat confident" I mean 100 times more confident than Jets fans, even their realists. I live in Cowboys country, I've seen it with my own eyes.

ST has cost us 2, perhaps 3 games. So, there is a basis for thinking that the rest of the team is actually better than the W/L record shows.
If ST continues to screw us then we are, well "screwed". If ST gets its act together and begins to perform as well as slightly below average then we've got chances to go on a run.

Truth be known as much as I would love it, I would be very, very surprised if San Diego beats them. San Diego is done, there is no fighting spirit left in them, demoralized by the move and total lack of management support. Oakland had a chance to beat them at home, it will be a different story in KC. But I suppose in any given Sunday.

I agree. I don't think there's too many of us "realistic" fans, however, but hope I'm wrong. Maybe it's just that the "fire Bowles" and "fire Gailey" crowd are so rabid and vocal because the Jets aren't at 11-1.

I'm not worried about Mac sitting on his heels and thinking the team is better than it is. He's no fool, imo. I believe that we finally have a supremely qualified, intelligent, and professional GM. At the very least, he's more competent than any of the stooges we've had in that capacity over the last 20 years.

I've never been one to agree with Parcells' "you are what your record says you are." Even if the Jets were 9-3 (or whatever at this point), imo it wouldn't say that the Jets are a great team, just perhaps a little better than the other dreck we've been playing this year. I think that's sort of what 1968jetsfan is saying, i.e., we could have a much better record than actual team this year due to our soft schedule. Even if we were 11-1 at this point, would that change the fact that we have little or nothing at the TE position, that most of our LBs are either old and slow or not that good, that we can't produce a consistent pass rush, that our depth at CB is nowhere near as good as we thought before the season started, that the best two players on the OL are getting long in the tooth and more injury prone and overall the OL needs upgrading, that our punter sucks, that we have no PR/KOR on the team, that our STs talent sucks? IMO no it wouldn't change those facts at all. Hence, the team would not be as good as our record.

Did you see April's press conference? I am really starting to dislike this guy.

    http://www.newyorkjets.com/videos/v...ent-Guys/4e33d602-8851-4b22-920c-c1e3347f6a6d

We have had the worst special teams of any Jet team I can remember. By far. Two punt returns, and four total touchdowns allowed. And he's up there smiling and joking.

Imagine Westoff after a game like that? I imagine he'd be pretty pissed. I don't know. He's never had that shitty of a season in his entire career.

Special team blunders cost us the Bills and Eagles games. Fuck Bobby April.

I wanted to draft Devin Smith when we did but at this point I'm really getting tied of him. During preseason he said he was surprised to find out that he had to learn all the WR routes and that he thought he would only be running go routes. Now April said Smith needs more training on how to be a gunner. Not to mention how Smith has underwhelmed during games to the point where Fitz won't even throw it to him. I suppose his injuries have set him back but he's hurting the team and I'm tired of seeing it.

As for April, why is/was he using an underprepared player as a gunner and returner? Also on the the kickoff TD return he said only one man was covering OBJ who was decoying on the left side but I saw three men over there who had no shot at covering the right side. That's like having only 8 men on the field! So, yeah, f*** him.

Did Smith really say that about thinking he'd only have to learn the go routes only? And if he did, was he serious? I'm not saying you are wrong but I can't imagine a guy really thinking that's true. Even if he's another idiot from Urban Meyer's OSU team.... but wow I hope you are wrong there.

secondly- I understand as fans we have a tendency to oversimplify things but how does the hell does someone need more training on being the punt coverage gunner. The position is fairly self explanatory. "gunner" - run down the field in your lane and tackle the guy with the ball. What does Smith have to learn that he doesn't know already about the spot?

    1. Yes I distinctly recall him being quoted and Bowles being asked and commented on it as well. Can't find a link so anything is possible :) but it is something that stuck in my memory.
    2. Listen to April in the video link bartscott provided in his post above. It's what April said

Hunter is out for the season.

A lot of timid losers in here. We're going to win and pretty easily against the Titans. As good as Mariota's been, he's a rookie and has NO ONE outside of Walker. They're badddddddd and no matter how bad we are, they're still worse.
