that was a WHOLE big thing here last year, tell ya what… I'm still steadfastly on the FUCK TANKING side of things, I guess mostly because of my own belief that theres no one true savior worth losing more games for at ANY position. If you're good at drafting you'll get a top prospect, many an elite player has come from outside the top 5 or 3, its hardly worth wishing ill on your team to get there. I'll say this, while I wouldn't mind Mariota as a Jet about now I don't cry in my sleep about it seeing as how we've gotten another blue chip guy that'll make things easy on us in other ways over the long term in Leo. Things have worked out fine despite the jets having the audacity to not indulge their fans woe-is-me tendencies late last year.
There are only 16 games a year. Life is too short to cheer for tanking. I cheer for the Jets each and every game. If I was a Browns fan right now, at (2-10), I would be cheering for a (6-10) finish. Just who I am.
This is actually a game i dont see the jets losing but i do see us struggling badly on O. This is a Dick LeBeau coached defense so they'll most likely put a stop to our hot passing attack. They've played everyone well with their pass defense minus the shootout they just had with the Jags, but the jags have two times to prepare for the titans so they knew what to bring. Plus Allen Robinson is just sick (better than OBJ IMO but thats for another convo). Defensive hard fought game.. Jets 19-13
Do you not understand that a group of guys hoping to get their next contract or planning to get there first big contract don't give a shit about what you think of the draft class? I mean seriously, I wouldn't want any player on my team who is going to thre the game for better draft position. No athlete in their right mind would do that. That's not to say I didn't want Mariota but rooting for a team to tank is wasted energy. Like I said, no professional athlete is going to throw a game for draft position. No head coach is going to do it either, especially one that was fighting for his job.
I understand that part, but we weren't talking about whether or not the players want to tank, we were talking about whether the fans are justified to root for their team to lose when they're clearly out of playoff position.
And my point is that it's never justified because it's not reality. What is the point in rooting for something that has 0 chance to happen? Like I said, it's a waste of energy and even more of a waste of time trying to justify it.
I almost forgot they had LeBeau. Makes me nervous about how limited our O could be despite Fitz looking like a GOAT QB last he played them. But there must be SOME reason they're 3-9 right? if they're really limited offensively a few stops here or there is irrelevant.
There's a difference between rooting for a team to tank and rooting for a team to lose. No team is going to actively tank, but bad teams are likely to lose lots of games. If the Jets and Titans are squaring off with the #1 pick on the line, why would I be rooting for the Jets to win?
Because you're a Jets fan? Nevermind, this is clearly just going to keep going around in circles as it has for years.
TO PUTTING ASIDE PETTY SQUABBLES! unless we start talking about starting Bryce… then Petty squabbles will continue.
I forgot Fitz dropped like 6 TDs on them lol. I actually watch their games though because i've always been highly interested in how Mariota plays in Tennessee, he's a damn STUD! They lose because they don't have enough on offense. Not many weapons at all, a running game that relies on big plays to keep it going, they are far from ground n pound because they have no bell cow. McCluster is a gadget guy, Antonio Andrews is only decent at best, and the other kid is a rook that needs way more blocking to be effective. Their #1 WR is slow sloppy rookie Green-Beckham, he'll be on an island. Delanie Walker is their only realy passing attack threat and we bid very very well vs TE's this year. All they got going is some really good plays by Mariota, Delanie Walker, and a solid defense. Not great but solid. I'd be highly surprised if Fitz leaves this game with zero turnovers
I think we win this game, after a iffy stretch in November it seems like the team is back on the right track.
100% It's not about what the actual players are doing--it's preferring the better pick that could cement your team as a contender for a decade plus. _
My only issue is we should just pass 75% the rest of the sched as teams are stacking it when Ivory in backfield or else fake it to Ivory and pass which Fitz did a couple of times. I liked the Gailey hire, had my doubts, and now back on board with him. Funny doesnt seem like we are doing much and then look at game stats its pretty good.
Jump on the Titans early. Do not let them hang around. I want to see a lot of pressure early and often and make mariota look as uncomfortable as possible
There are two plays I'd like to see more on offense.. The middle screen is a pretty good play but teams are gonna start jumping on it. The next play is just a quick screen to Marshall or Decker when the CB isn't pressed up on him, it's an easy 5 yards on a 1st down, everytime we run it we get a solid gain.
