So do the Bills sign him before or after tonight? Dumb move. Should've just put him on IR if anything.
He was getting cut at the end of the season anyway. He hasn't contributed jack this season. His snaps are way down. He doesn't play special teams ....
Hell of a first round pick Tanny between you and Idzik drafting Dee Milliner you all both really fucked us.
Coples had his 2016 5th year option picked up that was guaranteed for injury only. With the amount of money it was going to cost, it was obvious they were going to move on after the season was over, so why risk him blowing out a knee and being on the hook for all that money? Figured they'd cut him and let Mauldin get even more work, he's been coming on as a rusher the last few games but needs reps to grow as a run defender. It's a shame because he's actually a pretty good defensive lineman (his best games have come with his hand in the dirt) but he's just too slow for an edge rusher. Someone - Rex - will pick him up and turn him into an above average DL. Cutting a first round pick sends a message to the rest of the team for now.
I guess my point was why mid season? What are we gaining from him being gone? Another spot for Mac to churn at the bottom of the roster? Is that better then possibly finding a trading partner for a late round pick in the offseason?
Should have never been a OLB. Dumb ass decision to draft him dumber decision to move a damn near 300 pound non-motivated first round lineman to OLB.
Maybe he was brooding and became a negative influence in the locker room. Maybe there is someone out there we are interested in signing. Maybe the CS and FO wanted to send a message to the rest of the team that no one is safe. Above all else, maybe his play didn't deserve a roster spot and we had seen enough.
Rex is the one who turned him into a poor edge rusher, now he's going to make him a good dl. He will look good in the giants 4-3
I'd bet its probably a combination of all of these. And Mauldin has been a real bright spot, he deserves more PT anyways
who cares. coples sucks ass. in order to trade a guy you have to have someone who is willing to trade FOR him anyway. we don't know the locker room anyway. Maybe Coples made the decision for them by being a malcontent at the worst time: when Bowles is looking to make a statement
