Fitz has been in the league for how many years? He's never been known as a deep ball QB, he's a game manager. And that's fine as that's what this team in it's current form needs, but defenses haven't prepped in fear of a deep game from Fitz in years. Now that's not to say that Fitz is the cause of Devin's problems...but Devin's also not the reason this team is struggling, he's the 3rd or 4th receiver on this team in it's current form. He dropped a ball, okay....he's had a bad game, I get it. He's not been a star thus far, I get it. It's okay to be disappointed, but I think you're expectations were set way too high.
he's a rookie, hasn't looked good, isn't getting cut live with it. where was kerley today is the question. bowles has to make some personnel adjustments
Catch the ball Devin catch the ball I wake up at 6 am every morning ,I work hard 10 hours every day. All you gotta do is catch a fucking ball. You are a disgrace you idiot Catch the fucking ball. This is ball. Catch it you idiot head. Catch the ball.
I'm not giving up on Devin, but he should be the odd man out in the WR group...... Decker, Marshall, and Kerley in the slot, with Enunwa and Kenbrell Tompkins rounding out the group....
Tyler Lockett breaks 3 tackles for a TD. Gotta love how this team always drafts the worst receivers....
Lol. So you're blaming Fitz for Smith not being able to do the most basic thing a WR needs to do. I wasn't expecting OBJ. I wasn't expecting 100 catches and 1200 yards. I wasn't even expecting 32 catches and 400 yards. I was expecting him to be able to catch the ball. I was expecting one fucking play. _
Yes. The one thing he was known for in college, tracking the deep ball and good hands to catch it. He bounced it off his fucking facemask. Bench this rookie, Kerley should have been playing the entire game.
Why are you limiting this to how many targets he has? A memorable play can also be a good block. How about drawing a Pass Interference Penalty? He plays special teams, so surely you can remember something good he did there. Take all of that into consideration, and SURELY you can come up with three memorable plays. I'm sure you are not suggesting three plays makes someone an all-pro?
I never blamed Fitz, Just pointing out that the deep ball isn't something he does often. That's not blame, that's just fact. The fact remains he's only been on the field for 25% of the offensive snaps of games he's played in. The fact remains he's only been targeted 18 times, a good part of that is his route running isn't getting him separation at the NFL level. You're judging a guy who's been in 7 games now, in the 6 games prior to today he'd been targeted 18 times out of 155 snaps he's been on the field for. Now on around half of those snaps, or better it was a run play. On the other snaps he's usually the 3rd or 4th receiving option. I'm not saying he's been good, but Christ give the kid a real chance before hanging him. I get it, you hate him, you need a scape goat for the teams struggles.
Mentioning Fitz in any way shape or form for Smiths failure this year is blaming Fitz. And I don't hate Smith. I love the kid. He's one of the guys I hope will be the foundation of this team going forward. Catch the fucking ball. Stop making excuses for him. _
If that's what it takes for you to justify your view then fine, hyperbole is something I expect from you. Again, not making excuses for him, he clearly has a lot he needs to improve on....but the fact is when we drafted him these were known things that he needed to work on by and far. Again, your racking on a kid who lost developmental time in what is already an overly shortened pre season and blasting him based off of 18 targets. Context is everything.
That's fair, but I am not referring to his route running, he is struggling with catching the football. For the record, I was not expecting him to be a finished product year one. Hell, at this point, even a scrub like Hill had shown flashes that he could be a decent WR. I am NOT advocating that he be given up on at this point, but I think it's fair to be concerned, no?
