Looks like Stephen Hill redux. Scrawny and scared to fight for the ball.

Oh yeah?? If he's so fed up than why the f@#$ did he remain in the game after those brutal drops with a legitimate WR, Kerley, sitting on the sidelines??! Bulls&%#!

I've seen enough of this guy already. He needs to be inactive on gamedays behind Kembrell Tompkins and Quincy Enunwa and Kerley needs to play in the slot

I mean, the guy went to Ohio State! It's not like he was ever in any big-pressure games at THAT school!

WR and RB are 2 positions you should be able to tell relatively quickly whether they have something.

If he had some drops but also some eye openers you'd say "yeah, this guy could develop into something".

He has shown absolutely zero. Nothing. Nada.

I'm not giving up on him but he has been incredibly underwhelming.

It happens, I've watched football for more well more than 40 years. I've seen a lot of players struggle in their first season. Some blossom, some don't. Not saying that Devin will or won't blossom, just saying that 6 (now 7) games is far too early to make a call either way. A lot of HOF players didn't play well, some were downright miserable in their first season.

Everyone wants a star out of the gate, but the reality is it very often takes time, especially at the skill positions.

College isn't the NFL, route running takes time to develop and it's one of those things that was a weakness of his coming out of college. His success, or lack there of, will be determined by if he adopts to the NFL game and polishes his route running.

Nice try, you sound a lot like Junc. I've watched more football in my lifetime than you even know.

Not excuses, reality. 40+ years of watching football has taught me not to be rash in judging players.

Not saying he won't be a good player, or the Jets should cut him, but he has had a disappointing year. I still have hope because he is still a rookie. Those dropped today worry me though. I don't like WRs who can't catch no matter how fast they are.

I'm not asking for a star. I am asking for three memorable plays in seven games. Name them.

The missed time in training camp has thrown him off but the past 2 games he has had some inexcusable plays. The special teams one was a case of him fighting for an unnecessary extra yard and today he just flat out refused to grab onto that deep ball throw, that's his specialty that is what is so depressing to see and watch.

    Dismiss the route running.

Explain the drops. For any accomplished WR, that should be the FIRST thing they should be able to do.

Folks have been crying that Fitz limits Smith's effectiveness, can't take advantage of his strengths.

Fitz hit him in stride on a fly pattern. Both hands. Dropped. Short armed another throw.

Route running also has nothing to do with fumbling a kickoff.

Don't tell us we can't be incredibly disappointed.

I can deal with poorly run routes when you are a rookie, but bad hands are bad hands.

At some point the missed time ceases to be a viable excuse.

Catch the damn ball even if your route running is bad.

It's great that Bowles is fed up with him, but why...after last week...did you keep going to him?

He was brought here because he CAN make those catches. He CAN get separation. He CAN turn on the burners...

He didn't do any of that today. Horrendous drops. Can't sustain drives when you're going 3 and 10 all game. Fitz laid that TD pass right into his bread basket, man. It's not even debatable. Dude has to catch that.

So you're asking for 3 memorable plays in 18 targets....You're looking for a star.
I'm not saying that Devin has played well, he hasn't, Just saying it's way too early and he's still too inexperienced to make that call. Now if he's still playing this way early next season, then that's starting to become a different picture.

He's been disappointing but I will give him the offseason to see what he has. That training camp injury derailed his year and now he just can't seem to get caught up. I think it's also fair to say he might show more with a QB with a bigger arm, given his supposed "skillset"
