I find people who don't watch the games and then comment to be laughable. First he had TWO DROPS - not one. One was on a well-placed bomb for a TD which is the type of play that got him drafted high. He had to make that play and it was the one play that he is accustomed to making. That he lacks the focus to make that play at this level is pretty damning of the kid. Second - on the Fitz pick he didn't even come back. I can get a rookie WR making mistakes, running the wrong routes and having momentary lapses in concentration but giving up and not fighting for balls?? Get out of here with that shit. This guy shouldn't even be dressing for games. Give me Thompkins. Hell, give me Ben Obomanu over this POS
Can we also stop with this nonsense that him missing time in camp is the reason that he just dropped a perfectly thrown ball that hit him in the hands...
Just for perspective, and it's not a perfect stat, but it's from a completely neutral site that judges everyone by the same criteria for determining drops. 18 targets going in to today with 0 credit drops. Now I'm not saying he's going to be a great receiver, but to determine his ability in his rookie season when he lost so much development time is just illy. http://www.sportingcharts.com/nfl/stats/drops/2015/
Wouldn't it be nice if the Jets could draft a NFL ready Wr for once instead of a project? How about trading up for real blue chip Wr talent for once? Noooooooo, not us. Not how we roll.
No point talking to you on this, your mind is set. Instant gratification is all that's needed right? yup. Knee jerk reactions.
Clearly developing Devin Smith is more important to this team than winning football games. How else can you explain this team going to Smith again and again in crucial situations?
100%. This criticism has nothing to do with his preparation or route running or what shape he's in. He's a fucking WR. Run fast, get open, catch bomb TDs. Beckham missed camp and weeks of football and came in and started catching balls immediately. _
Let me ask you a question, and I am dead serious about this. I am not trying to be a jerk: The guy has been on the team for 10 NFL games thus far, and has played end-to-end in seven. Surely, a WR in seven games is capable of making three memorable plays. Name them.
Stop with this development stuff, this dude over the course of his lifetime has probably caught thousands of passes between games and practices. He isn't a converted DB that is changing positions at the NFL level. Have all of the patience that you want with him, but it's not unfair for people to expect a WR taken in the 2nd round being capable of more than he's shown so far.
Watch the games instead of trolling here. He shouldn't be dressing for games. He's 100% a disappointment. Doesn't mean he's a bust long-term but he should be showing a lot more in his first season
1. Fumbled kick-return in Buffalo 2. Dropped sideline bomb over the DB in the EZ 3. He did catch a slant for 7 yards against the Pats. Maybe he knows more than the 9 route
Wide Receivers are a lot like RBs you know pretty quickly. Smith is going to be a bust unfortunately-The guy looks afraid to get hit
because he didnt develop at all in college and should do all the developing in the pros. Quit with the excuses....
Good. Bowles needs to start ripping underperforming players and light a fire on them. The damn honeymoon is over for some of these players.
This was a huge miss. The kid has no hands, who cares if he learns how to run routes. You still got to have some hands.
