Next stop probably to Buffalo to be a consultant lol http://www.nola.com/saints/index.ss...l?hootPostID=423a2d284886c319b7ea74a646ed0ea3
Apparently... @Saints: Payton said there has been no staff changes at this time #Saints Guess FOX jumped the gun on this
That was his quote after being fired from dallas. Remember when everyone said he wouldn't get a h.c. job because if his hair? I think that reason has moved way down the list
He won't be going to buffalo, that opportunity was here when rex coached and it didn't happen then either.
He's average, imo, if you think he's ok, that's your opinion...look what he did to the Browns, Saints and Cowboys
the Cowboys firing Ryan was an epic mistake by Jones. the Saints, pre-Ryan, were statistically the worst defense in the history of the NFL in 2012. Ryan comes in 2013, they go from worst in yds to 7th, and 31st in points allowed to 5th. probably the biggest turnaround ever, and they didn't add much in the way of talent. the Cowboys, on the other hand, finished dead last in defense in 2013, with their new addition of Kiffin. Jerry clearly picked the wrong scapegoat, as defense ended up costing the boys the 2013 season (including a 49-17 loss to the Saints) in both cases, the main difference was coaching. all that said, Ryan deserves criticism this season. i know they are a very young group, with not much talent, but they are absolutely horrendous. have to make more adjustments.....keep tweaking....do something to stop the current bleeding.
Holy shit, I didn't know Buddy Ryan was a member of this forum. And yes, Don, that was a joke. I'd never confuse you with someone that had actually coached football above the peewee league. Rob Ryan has been less than average his entire coaching career.
so the saints went from the worst defense in the NFL, prior to Ryan to... the worst defense in the NFL, under Ryan.
they went from the worst D in the history of the NFL, to one of the better ones, and now back to garbage a couple years later. coaching can only mask so many problems for so long. maybe they'll finally get the point and start investing in their D? or they could just keep firing coaches while wasting Brees last window.
well they've definitely been TRYING to invest and improve their defense. Since 2009 they've drafted defense with their first or second round pick 9 out of 13 times. they spent big money in FA on Jarius Byrd, Keenan Lewis, Curtis Lofton, Broderick Bunkley traded a good WR for Dannell Ellerbee traded a star TE for a 1st rounder that they took a LB with they've been trying at least to improve the defense
Rex Ryan, head coach of the Buffalo Bills, said if his brother is let go, he'll go down competing. ''We're presuming that he's going to get let go at some point, I don't know,'' Rex said Monday during his weekly radio show on Buffalo's WGR-AM. ''But I know one thing, he's tough. He's going to compete to the very end. If that end comes tomorrow or it comes at the end of the season, I don't know. But I can tell you he'll be the same guy.'' ....and that is the sad part of all of this....that he will be the same guy.
Wow. Of course, the other way to look at this is that, on average, Brady makes the defense he is playing against look like the worst defense (i.e. New Orleans) in football.
