Hey guys...Bills fan, tough fought game last night. Was really nervous it was going to get away from us, but luckily Fitz played a quintessential Fitz game. This is playing out so eerily similar to what happened when he was with the Bills, both in the game and the season in general. Bills started season 5-2 in 2011 including beating New England for the first time in forever. We thought we were playoff bound. Then the Bills go 1-8 over the last 9 games to finish 6-10. Chain Gailey was our head coach/OC...this is a very familiar thing playing out with them... Why is this relevant, because its starting to play out for you guys right now. You started 4-1 but have went 1-3 in the last 4 games. Again, how is this relevant? Well, here is what happens. Early in the season, teams play Fitz normally and he can carve them up a little bit doing what they like to do with screens and short quick passes. Then around this time of the season teams realize he is no threat to beat them over the top. What do they do? Load the box to make running difficult and play press coverage across the board taking away the short throws and daring Fitz to beat them over the top. He can't do it---not consistently enough to make them pay at least. Gailey puts way too much trust in Fitz and will throw it in critical situations when it seemingly makes more sense to run it as you will have games when your RB is having a good day(5+ YPC). Fitz almost always lets him down. So in the games, Fitz will have a good early drive, will do nothing for much of the 2nd and 3rd quarters leading to his team falling behind by 2+ possessions, and then as the other teams defense loosens up a little to keep things in front of them playing with a big lead he will start having some more success, leading his team back into it late in the 3rd and 4th quarters. The defense will hold, give him one last chance and then he throws an INT on the first or second play of the drive. Game over. What happened yesterday happened so many times when he was with us, I literally called out "Here comes the game ending interception" right before the first play of the last drive. Sure enough, bad throw into double coverage, game over. So the game yesterday from Fitz is pretty much what is going to happen the rest of the season with rare exceptions here and there. Expect much lower point totals(5 of the last 10 games in that season the Bills scored under 20 points after scoring 23+ points in all of the first 7 including 30+ points 4 times in that span) and a lot of frustrating games that are seemingly within grasp after he "almost" leads them back before blowing it on the last drive. Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if you guys don't make it to .500 because of Fitz's limitations on offense that are now exposed...I'm going to say 7-9...just thought you guys might like to know what yo have to look forward to the last half of the season in Fitz/Gailey
But, but, this is the best team Fitz has ever been on. You'll see the real Fitz. Nobody has ever argued Fitz is without talent. But at his best he is a QB that can be productive but will always make a mistake. Or two. He's one of the key reasons why he is always on losing teams.
That's great. Except the game is more than just the stretch, and we only had 10 points going into the 4th quarter. Surely Fitz played a part in that predicament, no?
So let me get this straight... with 24 seconds, from the 30, with no timeouts, you accurately predicted a INT on a Hail Mary-ish throw. Damn, that's some Nostradamus shit, we should really believe everything you say.
Well, hope your enjoying Rex today. Having no challenges or timeouts remaining in the third quarter is a regular thing with him. It almost cost you last night. It will cost you later.
Guy, we watched him when he was at Buffalo, too. If anybody on this board expected Fitz/Chan to be something more, they're idiots. On the other hand, everybody on here is bitching and whining about coaching, and how all these decisions suck--completely failing to take note that, other than the 2008/Favre season, this is the best offense we've had since.....C.Mart was in his prime.
Yes, and that's exactly why he stays in there... He teases you and makes "just enough" plays to make you think things will be different the next time he gets a chance in that situation, but they never are. Just keep watching, you will see. I'm not trying to rub it in your face or brag or anything like that. I'm just telling you what happened last night was the typical Fitz/Gailey game once they get figured out from someone who saw the same scenario play out over and over and over.
We have't really seen that this year...well other than last nights game. Allegedly they had trouble with the headsets from what was being said? Not sure...I mean we had issues with the headsets in London against the Jags because they forgot to put in new batteries...now that was not something you want to hear at the NFL level...
I understand that this is a respectful post with possibly some useful insight. But why the fuck would a division rivals fan think that we want to hear their opinion (useful or not) after a 5 point loss like that?
Yes, but watch what is going to happen over the rest of the season...in 2011 we started out averaging 30.1 points per game over the first 7 games. Over the last 9 we averaged 17.9...a product of teams having no fear of Fitz beating them deep, loading the box to stop the run and pressing the line of scrimmage to prevent the quick throws. Honestly, you guys would be better off going with Geno...this is the start of it going downhill for Fitz...
Happened all the time with Rex. Enjoy the win and enjoy Rex. Jets fans liked him too for a few years, but he is an absolute ass and will destroy your team.
Fitz had a horrible game. And is injured. Still had a better game than Tyrod. Enjoy the 8 win season.
Except on the 2 biggest 4th downs of the game Gailey called a screen 3 yards behind the chains and a fade to the 2nd string tight end with one catch that got blown up by our own players running into each other. I'll take "that's the Gailey we know and love". Fitz didn't choke this time.
Your team was out of challenges 7 minutes into the game and out of timeouts 5 minutes into the 4th quarter in a game that came down to the wire. That's the Rex we know and love. Enjoy the 8 win season and a new coach in 2 years. Hopefully your owner is smart enough to not give him longer than that.
Devin Smith and Ivory fumble played a huge part in us only having 10 points. Not to mention it gave them 7 points. Gtfo
Really? Tyrod 17 for 27, 158 yards, 63% Completion, 1 TD, 0 INT, QB Rating 91.3 Fitz 15 for 34, 193 yards, 44% Completion, 2 TD, 2 INT, QB Rating 57.6
