At this point it seems the best thing for the Jets to do with Cro is make him the NFL's highest paid kick return specialist, let Williams take his CB spot.
Kickoff return was great, sure. What about the points he puts on the board for opposing teams weekly? He's paid to be a high end CB. Right now, he's barely playable. It was a bad signing. It was from day 1. Luckily we can get out of it this offseason without any harm.
It takes a man to admit he is wrong, it takes a bigger man to admit he is wrong on the internet, but i was way off on Cro being a top 10 corner in the league. Idk if he is even top 5 on the Jets. Father time wins again.
Does it really matter if Kerley is fair catching punts or kick-offs? Cro did a good job returning kicks so cutting him would be foolish even if we had a replacement for the #2 CB job.
It probably wouldn't make sense to release him now that the team is on the hook for $5mil guaranteed, but $5mil for what amounts to a glorified KR is pretty ridiculous.
Better to keep him in and ruin the teams chances at wins down the line???? If all he can do is return kicks, then so be it.
Unfortunately every time Cro comes back to the Jets his bum hip creeps up, when healthy he's a solid corner, but he's not healthy. At this point I would just have return kicks, he's much better than Kerley or Stacy.
Of course I'm not supporting him playing corner again for the Jets. Just like I didn't support him signing this year, didn't support his first extension and didn't like the trade to initially acquire him. But if the team is on the hook for guaranteed money, make him earn some of it returning kicks, because there's no way he'll earn a dime in the secondary.
One year rental just to say that we got batman and Robin back this year.. He's been terrible. Marcus Williams should be starting for him anyway.
Yea - fair catching kickoffs would be pretty fucking stupid in most scenarios. Fair catching a punt when the alternative is to get smeared as you're trying to catch the ball ... not so stupid. What difference does it make???
His bum hip creeps up when he is getting paid a lot of cash. It mysteriously vanishes when he's getting half pay like he was with the Cardinals last year and looking to get paid well again. Hate to say it but off - on - off says a lot.
You still pretending that Kerley doesn't catch everything thrown to him? There's a difference between being under utilized and flat out sucking ass.
