And he is sticking with tbe guy who has won him games. Sticking geno back up to this point would be risky given genos record. No one can blame him for sticking with fitz. But winning with fitz does bot reflect negativity towards geno. They can still like what they think they can get from geno and start fitz as long as he is winning. Its not a give and take.
It was only one game and I still need to see more but his pocket presence looked improved to me. He was stepping up in the pocket, throwing with anticipation, showing patience, etc, he's thrown the ball away a ton when nothing was there, the issue was him trying to do too much, but it's still only one game but he looked fine on Sunday. He just needs to sometimes concede the play if nothing is there.
no it is give and take in this situation. This is not like Glenn Foley getting hurt and Vinny Testaverde coming in and having the greatest single season a QB has ever had here. Or Wally Pipp getting hurt and losing his job to Lou Fuckin Gehrig. This is Ryan Fitzpatrick who has always been so/so playing so/so and that is STILL somehow better. This is like having a shiny top of the line drill in your garage that your wife bought you that was always giving you problems and you kinda hated it. One day you can't find the right charger for it so you borrow your neighbors' old busted up drill. He says its kinda crappy but it gets the job done. You use it and decide, shit, this works much better than that fancy drill. Your wife finds the charger for the fancy drill and you say thanks but you decide to stick with your neighbors crappy old one cause it gives you less problems anyway.
This conversation is about to becone circular,i agree to disagree about genos future with the team as it stands now. Good day sir
all is not lost, drew brees will be a FA next year what have you seen from winston that shows that he doesnt play hard, have heart, or a will to win? hell, what have you seen from rg3 that shows that? dude played a playoff game with a torn ligament in his knee
I generally agree with your analysis here and on the preceding post. But you are talking about two different times, and I think Smith fans are not focusing on that. Before the punch Smith was healthy and Fitzpatrick was coming back from a broken leg. I personally would have said we will see (implicitly based on how Fitz got over the leg injury) who does better in camp. And he was still getting better healthwise as camp went on. Then comes the punch. Not only was Smith unavailable in the short run, but the new CS and FO got to see how lacking in character Smith is and how the locker room does not support him. Meanwhile Fitz steps in, is healthy and the players support him. He is effective. At taht point and thereafter the interest in starting Smith has fundamentally changed. Instead there is no reason to take Fitz out, so if he can play, he stays in there. I would like to think that the CS has overall given up on Smith. But bringing in the previous starter after a temporary injury is not proof tha they have.
Cmon, if you are going to try and impress us with injuries at least have some good ones. The above sounds like one good weekend from my 20's. JK. I am sure he will be wrapped and shot up before the glove even goes on. I am sure it is painful but once the adrenaline start pumping he will be able to block most of it out during the game. I am really more worried about other injuries since he seems to be like Elijah Price the last few seasons.
Cortisone was a miracle in my life. I played rugby in college and took a nasty hit trying to pickup a fumble my right shoulder got driven into the pitch...adrenaline got me through the entire game and after party ....but when I awoke the next day I could barely lift my right arm. I never had an injury that debilitating before. Finally, after giving up on my shoulder healing on its own (maybe 36 hours) I checked into the doctors office and he gave me a shot of cortisone....the next morning I awoke terrified in pain...It was even worse I couldn't move my arm hardly at all...the next morning after that, when I awoke, it was a freaking miracle, no pain at all...all pain gone...pretty much full range of motion. I know Professional athletes use cortisone a lot. Not sure if the hand has enough meat to handle cortisone, but maybe under smaller dosage (I am not a Doctor and won't pretend to be one)...All I know is I was in severe pain for 2-3 days.. took that cortisone shot and within 48 hours I was like brand new.
Hard to say Grem. It will have to be a clean slate start over. Most likely a team needing a backup Qb but highly doubtful any GM sees Geno as a starter. Perhaps the young man goes west to say, Frisco or a team that really has a need at Qb. I don't see Geno going too far out of his way to be a backup Qb. Hell, Geno might be better off in Canada for a year or two, then coming back like Warren Moon did.
Seems obvious who the teams wants too. I HOPE he brings his game from 2 weeks ago Injury that concerns me the most is Pryor tho. Doesn’t look like hes playing, huh?
You didn't play rugby. Come on. Ok, story checks out. You played rugby. (I'm told I enjoyed my rugby seasons as well. )
Lol seriously my misery is far from impressive I hope he does well, and he should, you're right. Sent from my HTC6515LVW using Tapatalk
Fitzpatrick starting >chance of winning Geno Smith starting<chance of winning Just do the Math Bowles and Mac have jobs to keep. TGG can debate the issue till the cows come home but have nothing at stake
You make some very good points. I've been assuming that the injury would impact Fitz, but I don't know that for sure. I've also been assuming that Geno is healthy and he might not be, so these are both considerations. If Fitz can play unimpeded then this decision will make more sense. I will throw out one Devils advocate idea though: even if Fitz isn't really impeded by this injury, the injury still provides the perfect face saving excuse to start Geno for a game. With the clock on Geno running, I still find it interesting that the CS doesn't seem to be looking for excuses to put Geno under center. Perhaps this goes back to the CS feeling that Fitz has earned the job and the right to play (I know he has won me over) but I can't shake the feeling that the support for Geno within the org is ebbing away or gone. No matter what, I am also eager to see how this plays out. If Fitz is at all impeded then this weekend is going to give us all a really good indication as to where Geno stands with this org.
So with Smith and Fitzpatrick apparently ready to play but dinged up, do the Jets go with just them or suit up Petty as well?
