I wonder if they still sell these. Could come in handy...

    ,
Hound Dog Taylor had one of those. He originally had two, but a razor blade changed that. Great f-cking slide player.

Against who? Mary Poppins? I jest, but really, with Ivory running at 35%, do we really present a huge running threat?

Heck, you and me could shut down the Jets running game last 2 weeks.

Me too, but it does speak volumes about where Geno stands its both the FO and CS that they'd start Fitz instead of giving Geno a shot to start.

No it doesn't Fitz has been the starter up to this point and if they feel he can play they'll give him the benefit of the doubt. Stop making it out to be more than it really is.

I hope Stevan Ridley starts rolling any day now, I have faith in him.

Lets just hope Gailey is smart enough to keep him in the shotgun all game. The negligible bonus you get from taking a snap under center is far less then the increased chance that Fitz will fumble with his busted hand.

Bowles himself said they can't live by the shotgun; he's going to have to endure the pain and take snaps from under center. This was said after the injury trying to assess the severity, but still.

I'll be more comfortable if Mangold plays b/c he'll know to be careful on snaps.

Not sure how you can be careful on a snap... Just snap the ball, same as he always has.

I dunno, I don't see it. You don't think starting an injured guy over a young QB who had supposedly been penciled in as your future and one-time starter is a big deal? As far as we know, Geno doesn't have any lingering injury from last week's game. So he is healthy and Fitz is not (or have I missed a report?).

Before the season Geno was supposed to be the starter and was the guy who (supposedly) had more upside and future. But since players in the NFL expire like milk it is necessary to figure out if he is the real deal at this point, so no way you sit a future starter at this juncture in his career and contract IF you think he is a future starter. OTOH, if you think he has nothing then you sit his ass and let the big kids play.

Definitely CLEAR what the team...coaching staff thinks of Geno! They could make a real point by de-activating Geno and activating Petty to back up Fitz on Sunday. Not going to happen but it most certainly would drive home a point.

The really sad thing about this as I ponder our QB situation for this season and the foreseeable future...this team is really really screwed. As you watch Petty you realize that he has to ride the pine for at least 3 years ala Aaron Rodgers. One year and then compete really isn't realistic. Which leaves us with a half-baked mediocre Fitzpatrick (maybe) for the next 2 years... Kind of sucks if you think about it. I never have been able to understand why the Jets haven't been able to have a balanced team. The last reasonably balanced team we had were the Vinny years and that only lasted one or two. Definitely maddening.

Big deal. If there is one thing I have learned about Ryan Fitzpatrick since he became a Jet it is that he is a player. He has heart. He wants to win. He wants to contribute. He plays hard. I'll take that all day against the RGIII's and Jameis Winston's of the world. But that also means that he is more likely to get banged up now and then. Know what......THAT'S FUCKING FOOTBALL.

I wish some of our receivers were half as tough.....

Ridley is kind of our wild card. With Ivory seemingly off the map, Stacy non-effective, and Powell injured. Can't wait to see him play.

    Hmmmmm....Devin comes to mind... LOL!!!

I've been very impressed by Decker and Marshall...both tough it out. But Devin...I'm beginning to think a baaaad draft choice. Especially with the type of QB play we have. Devin belongs on a team with a Cutler or Stafford...someone who tosses it a country mile. Not the dink and dunk junk we play around with.

If Fitz plays every offensive snap, he will be playing for about 6 minutes total (snap to whistle). That's it, 6 minutes. Suck it up buttercup!

    1) 90% of football is 50% mental. The smarts are pretty important, and Geno has demonstrated over and over that he is short in that department. 2) Geno is Mark Sanchez Part Deux.. same patterns, same mistakes....over and over. They are very much alike when it comes to the mental aspects of the position.
