Fitz will need surgery at some point but it sounds like the doctors are going to try to manage the pain to get him through the season

Geno with a bruised shoulder but no structural damage.

Sounds like we won't see who starts until Wednesday's practice, but initial reports indicate that Fitz will be out and Geno is 50/50.

What do we do here? Play a beat up Fitz/Geno or give Petty a full week of reps with the ones and hope our defense and running game show up?

Playing a diminished Fitz or Geno is a really, really bad spot to be in. 100% healthy they both kinda suck, injured and hobbled hurts us immensely.

While I was against ever playing Petty in 2015, against the Jags a healthy Petty might be better than a bruised Geno or Fitz. Basically I think the jets can steal a win with a rookie QB at home against a bad team like the Jags. Give both guys a week to heal.

Yeah he's not very good, if he was he wouldn't be on his sixth team in 9 years in a QB desperate league like the NFL. His statline is very middling, he's managed an offense against garbage teams and was handily beaten by any decent team.

He is what he is, a mediocre to kinda shitty QB.

Lmao I'm not even gonna get involved in this one. It is blatantly obvious you have no idea what you are talking about and are all about just shitting on someone no matter the facts.

    Carry on...

Fitz when healthy and with a solid WR corps and good blocking can play at average to above average level.

I'm afraid to find out what Fitz with a fucked up thumb will play like, but it's better than a healthy Geno Smith and definitely better than Flynn who was happily drunk 5 minutes after the Jets cut him.

Edit: Fitz when dead is an upgrade from RGIII.

Or you have absolutely no data to suggest that Fitz is anything but a middling to kinda shitty QB in this league, so just throw some ad-hom attacks at the wall, hope they stick and no one notices your ignorance.

Lets stick to this year bud. You can talk about the last 8 years as long as you like but what matters is right now. To say Fitz sucks this season says to us that you haven't watch any game but the Eagles game this season. He's been far from sucking. The worst thing he has done is not slide.

Based on the new qbr system before this week, Fitz was the third best QB in the league. He has 11 TD 7 INT and an 86.5 rating with 1518 yards.

I don't give a shit who you are. Those numbers are not "middling to kinda shitty"

    There's your data

I mean if both are out its better than Flynn or Johnson. Tell the kid we are probably gonna lose with anyone else starting. Go out there, have fun, and play your heart out and try to get a win. If it doesn't work out f-it. We are down 2 Qb's. Ideally he should sit but we may not have that luxury. See what the kids got, it by no means has any implications for the future.

I don't see this happening. It's his left hand. Tape it good and work with it. I don't see him out for any week

Fitz, if he can play, should play.

If Fitz can't play, and Geno is healthy enough to play, then Geno should play.

Petty should only play in an absolute emergency. The Jets should to everything in their power to take the long-term, conservative approach with Petty.

OK he was 24th in yards, 9th in interceptions, 13th in TD's, 24th in completion %, 20th in rating, 28th yards per game, 23rd in yards/attempt. Sticking to this year, he was middling to shitty against mostly garbage opponents.

The Jets QB situation has been so dire fans don't even know what good QB play even is anymore. Bottom 3rd or bottom 20% in key stats is considered great QB play now...

You are basing this off Fitz not playing this week and the Jets already having a bye... Nice job skewing.

The guy can't grip the ball. The Jets can't put him in the game until he is comfortable enough to grip it, with ease, snap after snap after snap. It's not one of those "no big deal" things that the guy just needs a series or two to get used to. It amounts to a guy (who has the ball in his hands on EVERY offensive play) making a major adjustment to how he holds the ball. It's a big deal.
