Revisiting this as it was discussed pre-season. SF is in full rebuild mode and tracking toward a top 3 pick. Kaep has been bad for them for a year and some games, and it appears time for them to move on and into the future. All the while, I think Kaep would actually be very good on the Jets. Strong defensive support, good weapons, good o line, and an OC who takes average to below average QBs and makes it rain. Not to mention, I think Kaep is an excellent system fit here.

    SF sends Kaep
    NYJ sends Sheldon and Kerley

I think we need to rid ourselves of Sheldon for a variety of reasons. 1) Leonard Williams is the truth. 2) Sheldon's behavior makes me uncomfortable. 3) Let's us commit to Mo Wilk.

Kerley has been in the dog house of this staff. He's a serviceable relatively young WR and a possession receiver which SF needs and whom will cost them very little cap wise.

I think it makes sense for all parties, but wondering the boards thoughts? Our QB depth chart going forward becomes Kaep, Fitz, Petty (Geno gets the axe after the season).

I'd do that...If Kaep had only one year of success I'd call him a fluke. But you don't light the league on fire for 2 1/2 years because you suck. They have developed an absolute MESS out in San Francisco and it's plain ugly. I feel for the guy. He's not perfect but he's better than anything we have, including a healthy Fitz.

There needs to be a "What if" section here on TGG. Kaepernick is the worst starting QB in the NFL. He is trash. I never want to see his name on this forum again.

Very affordable cap numbers for Kaepernick out to 2020. He's miles better than anybody the Jets currently have. He's probably better than anybody they can draft next year. He's been to a Super Bowl and three NFC Championship games.

    Sign me up.

I think dollar wise, I'd rather send Mo than Sheldon and Geno rather than Kerley.

    I don't believe in Kaepernick's ability whatsoever.

    This is beyond untrue.

There are easily a dozen QB's in the NFL worse than Kaepernick and probably more like half the guys starting.

I would take Hoyer and McCown over Kaepernick. While he may have more trade value he is garbage. The only thing he has done all season is run the bootleg to the right and throw it out of bounds. The only starting QB I wouldn't want over Kaepernick is Matt Cassel. I would rather have Geno than Kaepernick. He is such a scrub. Him and RG III were the golden boys until they got figured out. Make them throw the ball and they are utter shit.

No. I rather give up a conditional draft pick and get RG3 instead.

Well right now we have a QB who runs bootleg to the right (slo mo variety) and then takes a sack. How is that not a positive, getting a guy who bootlegs to the right and knows to throw the ball out of bounds? :p

Well throwing the ball out of bounds is better lol. Both don't sound appealing what so ever. I hope Fitz is ok...

He wasn't trash a little over a year ago. I refuse to believe he suddenly forgot how to play football. There is a lot more in play than sometimes the simple "he sucks" or "he's good". Especially at QB there are a LOT of factors that play into success or failure.

    Oh BTW.

    Colin Kaepernick.

The 49ers OL is a disaster in pass protection this year. The right side of the line has been like swiss cheese, like Wayne Hunter at RG and RT.

Bad o line, bad defense, no offensive weapons, no run game.
When he had those things they were in the Superbowl and he was an emerging player.

But that's none of my business.

He was on a good 9ers team with a good coach. All that has gone down the drain. He was a product of what was around him. He's a non pocket passer from Nevada... Him and RG III had brief success but now that seems to be over for at least 1 of them. Kaepernick has possibly hit his ceiling already. Don't be surprised if the best seasons in his career have already happened.

Youre going to send a proven DL , for essentially Geno Smith II? I'll pass. Send them Coples for Kaep maybe.

49er players want this guy benched for Blaine freaking Gabbert. It doesn't get any worse then that. Kaepernick hasn't improved, he will need one hell of a QB guru to fix him. He also has started drama in the locker room.

No way, would I trade Mo for him.
