Don't know how reliable he is, probably BS. But a guy on Twitter named Nick Barlotta is saying "don't be surprised if Stafford is on the Jets roster by Tuesday".

I'll be shocked if the Jets land some of the names being mentioned in this thread. Realistically, I'm expecting the Jets to sign Flynn since he at least practiced with the team during the preseason.

    Who are we giving up?

How are we going to afford him?

And if we're really going that route, then go after Drew Brees.

Brees sucks. He threw an interception today.

I don't know what's up with the guy this year and wouldn't mind him. Barlotta is just pulling things out of his ass, while we might be able to squeeze the guy in somehow this season he makes 17 mil next year guaranteed. I don't see how this works unless we are going to move on from at least one big piece of our defense. Honestly, at this point I think might not be a bad thing.

While I could see the Lions being willing to make that move, I'm not sure it's a good move for us..... He's is owed a lot of money.

I'm not sure how the money works out but at least with Stafford we will be able to stretch the field.

He is having a horrible year though.

We're not getting a big time Qb. If he makes a deal it will be for a backup with experience. RG3 is someone else's headache. The plan is to probably go with Geno. If he can play. So if you bring in a Colt McCoy or someone like him he wouldn't start immediately but if Geno sucks could take over the following week. As for Petty it's intriguing but he's probably not ready. But with Geno or Petty, Gailey has to give them a kid's version of the playbook. Neither guy is ready to sit at the adult's table.

Haven't read the whole thread but did see some of the Geno supporters point to Fitz's INTs. Here's the problem. This is a defensive team that is built to play a field position game. Most of Fitz's INTs have come up field because his long ball just hangs. One thing Fitz doesn't do it get sacked for huge losses. And that is the main issue I have with Geno. It's year 3 and he still takes these drive killing, field position killing 10-15 yard sacks.

how we would afford him is a great question. But I'd rather go after Stafford than Brees. He's younger and he can be built around. Personally I don't think the Lions struggles are on Stafford. It's bad coaching and internal confusion which results in him being put in bad positions to succeed.

I am not familiar with the cap figures enough to say for sure, but I think Stafford's contract is massive and don't think that would fit him under our cap.

This really says a lot. Because we can get this guy for free. And the GM and starting Qb know him well. So good decision.

Stafford would only be possible if they signed him to a 5 or 6 year deal.

He's 27 years old and consistently throws for over 4,000 yards. He'd probably cost at least a 1st rounder.

If the Jets can make the playoffs, that pick would be in the 20s. I'd probably make that trade.

I'd do Mo vs Stafford. They could use him, he's a perfect fit with the Lions.

You could say Stafford would be perfect for the jets as well. He is young, has had success. Will continue to have large targets to throw to with Marshall and Decker. It will never happen but I would do the trade.
