That was painful for sure. I think in the long run a loss today will do this team better than a win. It should (it better) give them the fire they clearly need to go out and work even harder then they ever have. Yes it suck 1000 times more losing to the pats and it seems like they are a step ahead of the Jets and own the Jets. If the Jets want to dethrone the king they need to bring their A+++++++++++++++++++ game and then some. Lets fall back on a Bowles quote from earlier in the week. "This game is not going to break us and this game is not going to make us" And lets be honest with ourselves nobody and I mean nobody thought this team would be 4-2 at this point in the season back in July/August. J!-E!-T!-S! JETS! JETS! JETS!
where is your outrage at the refs for help the cheators win? where is your outrage at the missed PI or holding on Cumberland? the holding on the defensive lineman that pulled Mangold down and the play when he got hurt. The cheators did not win as much as the refs missed calls again that helped them into a position that let them win. Where is the outrage on the missed holding calls on the cheatriots. Fuck them and their fans if this was in the spirit of sportsmanship yes I would agree because when have the cheators or their fans ever been sportsmen? spygate, deflategate, stealing playbooks shall I continue?
this was not a fairly called game. If it was then I think the outcome would have different. i am tired of seeing close calls or no calls go to the cheators. It is disheartening
I could not agree more with the person who started the thread. My biggest fear going into the game was the Jets getting blown out. Yes, the Jets lost but they showed some good stuff and proved they are legit. I know that some of the Jets fans will call it loser talk but they can suck it. I realized a while ago some people are just miserable no matter what happens and this board has more than a few of those. If the Jets lose, they say they should have won, if they win, they did not win by enough. We were a joke last year and now the other teams see we not only compete but we are a threat. If you are not happy with the turnaround in the Jets, my guess is, you are just a negative person who just complains all of the time.
While I appreciate your positivity, saying todays loss would "do this team better than a win" is insanity. Beating the World Champs and tying them for first place in the division is much, MUCH better than losing to them. Imagine the confidence it would have given us? To say the loss means The Jets will work harder now, means they weren't working hard enough all along.
The Jets aren't good enough to go into NE and win right now. That really shouldn't surprise anyone. Hopefully the story is different at the end of the season, but until we either find a Brady of our own or Brady is gone, we'll probably continue to be not as good as the Patriots. It's very unlikely we overtake the Pats for the division this year, again, that shouldn't surprise anyone. That just is what it is.
I refuse to go there because its not anything that we can control or effect. The Refs are gonna call what they call and if it doesn't go our way, oh well. You can't deny that even with the calls that went in their favor, we were in position to win this game. The Patriots made plays and we didn't. The Refs didn't beat us, the Patriots and Brady beat us. The Refs didn't give up a 3rd and 17. The Refs didn't call a suicide blitz and forget to cover Gronk. The Refs didn't drop a TD pass , Marshall did. We lost to the better team today and really, that's not such a bad thing. We'll play them again and we'll see where we stand. We lost to the best team in football right now. No shame man.. No shame at all.
Great post Cman. I think we should be more worried if we lose to Oakland next week than losing today against NE. A win today would have been huge, but it wasn't a dire need for this team to find success the rest of the way.
Here is my issue with today's loss: This loss makes it nearly impossible to win the division. Yes we can still get hot and rally off enough wins to take it, but NE is undefeated. They barely lose as it is. By losing this game, and falling 2 games behind them in the AFC East, makes us have to play nearly perfect football the rest of the way to win the division. And even if we do that, it might still not be enough when the Pats* are only good for 2-4 losses per year. The Pats* got weaker at nearly every position this offseason except QB. We got better at nearly every position. We have the #1 D and #1 rushing offense. Yes, I expected a win today. We did not get it, so I'm upset. I am SICK of only being the wildcard race. I am SICK of having to win 3 road games in a row to get to the big show. I feel embarrassed wearing my AFCE 98 champs t-shirt and my 02 AFCE champs hat. I want new gear that says 'champions' on it. Anything at all. AFCE, AFC, Superbowl, whatever. I want the Jets to be a CHAMPION of something, and by consistently allowing NE to win this division, even when they are subpar at nearly every position outside of QB, it hurts. We had every opportunity to win today. We let it get away by... Fumbling on the opening drive. Marshall dropping an easy TD. Blowing a 3rd and 17 in the 4th up 4 points. Choosing to let the Pats* score instead of trying to hold them late in the 4th. The odds of scoring, getting an onside kick, and scoring again are so low in comparison to trying to stop them late in the 4th. I know we did score once and got the onside kick, but you cannot just let them score with such low odds at stake. Awful coaching there. We had this game and let it slip away. The Pats* receivers were dropping everything. Our D was playing lights out for 3 quarters. We blew it. Plain and simple. And no, I'm not happy about it. On the bright side, we do still comfortably lead the wildcard race, but that's just it. The wildcard race. Meaning we need another improbable run to get to the big show this season. I want to win this division so badly. Had we won the division in 09 and 2010, I think we go to the superbowl. Winning three straight road games, while possible, is extremely difficult. Rip me apart if you wish for my expectations, but after all of our offseason moves, I expected the best D in the league and an above average offense. We have that, we should be dominating.
BS people need to got there because that is the only way teams will get fair play and treatment. So it is OK mangold was hurt on play that should have been flagged? You can't beat 11 players plus the ref it is impossible. even then we had a shot imagine if the game would have been called fairly?
I'll see your 4 and raise you 5 bad calls or no calls mangold getting hurt was pulled down by a dlineman 1 missed call PI or holding on cumberland 2 missed calls the fair catch wave and then the subsequent return 3 the no call roughing when Kerly was out of bounds 4 and for 5 you can pick any of the holds that weren't called. The Jets did not let this one slip so much as you people make it out to be
You have to pick your fights with the league carefully or else get tagged as a whiner. If you're gonna complain about the refs, you have to not only have incontrovertible proof, but other teams making the exact same case. We had the game won but we didn't make the plays. The Refs didn't have anything to do with the Marshall drop or the 3rd and 17 conversion. The Refs didn't lose this game. The Jets lost this game. I happen to think we're a better team for it too.
