This is where having Cool Hand Todd as your HC comes in handy. Even if we lose, its not gonna be an ashes and sack cloth event like its been over the last 6 years. No ball burying, no whining about the Refs (Hopefully). Just a learning opportunity that they'll use to their advantage and move on. If we win, I'm sure it won't be the Jets saying prep the canyon of heroes. The NY Media otoh, will go nutz. They'll go into full Rex mode with the over the top accolades and predictions. With any luck at all, Bowles won't let things get out of hand with the team. Hopefully, he'll lock up the koolaid until the season is over. To answer the OP, yeah I'm gonna enjoy the game. Its early enough that I'll be able to do other shit when the game is over like grill and drink and so forth.
Bowles believes in building the team up over the course of the season to where it is at it's best at the end of the season. A win or a loss along the way is irrelevant to his philosophy and he won't allow it to knock him off track one way or another. He's not going to go retard mode "it's a process" (mangini) but he's about as steady eddy as they come so far as I can tell. Every week he will be looking for what they need to do to improve and address it. I thought his response was pretty funny when a reporter asked him if he thought division games counted as 1.5 games like Rex did. The question didn't include Rex, just the 1.5 games part. Bowles pretty much laughed it off and probably had no idea it was a Rexism he was laughing at.
Here's my take on the whole Pats/Jets thing. 2013 the Geno led Jets beat the Pats. 2014 the Geno led Jets (with no secondary) drove the Pats into overtime and lost 25-27 on a blocked FG. In fact the Geno led Jets with no secondary lost both NE games by a total of 3 points. 2015 the Fitz led Jets with Marshall, Decker, and Ivory running wild and the #1 Defense with Revis, Cro, Skrine, Leonard, and Gilchrist will actually beat NE and it won't even be that close. The score will be close, but the game will be dominated by the Jets. I'm so certain the Jets will win this game handily I might not even bother watching it.
I am very excited about tomorrow's game. Several of these games have gotten out of hand, but a fair amount have also been close. I expect the Jets Offense to play a good/solid game. They can't turn the ball over more than 1 time tomorrow and expect to win the game. I see Ivory playing well and Marshall will make plays. The defense will struggle some on 3rd down, but for the most part, they will be able to slow the pats down so that they aren't lighting us up for 30+ points. In the end, the game will come down to turnovers. The Jets can't have more than 1 and if the Jets want to win, they will need to get at least 1 themselves. A strip sack and an interception could be enough to get the win. I predict a score of 27-17. I hope for our sake, the Jets are the team with 27. Go Jets!
I think the jets are going to surprise people and win this game. This jets roster is designed to beat the patriots and the patriots are starting a bunch of JAGs for their Oline including a bunch of rookies. The jets will have skrine and Marcus Williams available. This game has major upset written all over it - I expect them to be tossing Brady around like a rag doll. I'm shocked that pretty much no one is picking the jets to win this game. This game is there for the taking. If the jets crap out, I'll be very disappointed.
hard to say.... last weeks game i expected a smack down but we came out and just started fumbling all over and giving them life. im nervous becase we need to make mistake free football. and im nervous we will turn it over, and we will blow a coverage and give up a long score, and that on special teams somewhere we will screw something up hopefully we run well enough and the d is good enough to keep it close in spite of that id feel alot better if our dline was getting any kind of pressure. so for they havent. it would be a good week to change that
we hae been facing teams with injuries all over their oline the past few weeks, but couldnt take advantage people are picking the pats because they have pretty much done whatever they wanted offensively all year. hopefully we can slow them down. rainy today, hope that helps us
We have been taking advantage - lowest QB Rating against, lowest pass completion percentage, fewest 1st downs given up, lowest first down percentage, tied for 3rd in interceptions. lowest points/game (and that's with our special teams giving up 14 points), 2nd in pass defense, 2nd in run defense, 1st in overall defense. Teams playing against the jets have decided that they will not hold on to the ball and will throw short timing patterns, which the jets have been defending very well. This strategy will prevent a lot of sacks, but will result in lower pass completions and higher interceptions when well defended, which is what we've seen. The jets have, in essence, been defending against the patriots all year - now the patriots do it better than everyone else, but the jets defend it better than anyone else. The patriots tend to throw the ball to one of three people - Edelman, Amendola and Gronk. Revis and Skrine should be able to handle Edelman and Amendola and they'll double Gronk. Against our D-line they will not be able to run the ball. Dion lewis will be the wild card - can they stop wheel routes to Lewis - if he plays. We've also played a lot of mobile QBs (with the exception Cousins) and with mobile QBs its more important to block the running lanes and push the Olinemen back into the QB rather than penetrate through the Oline. Against cousins the jets pretty much didn't blitz at all - maybe because they didn't want to show more blitzes to the pats? Against Brady there is no need to block the running lanes on pass plays and they will go all out to get to him. I expect them to hit Brady hard.
Any Sunday offers hope and opportunity. The Jets frequently offer heartburn and ulcers. Maybe they're changing their ways.
I am excited about the game today. If the Jet's come out of the gate ready to play, they could well beat the Pats. They need to give Queen Tom lots of pressure, which in turn leads to his happy feet. Revis needs to take Edelman out of the game. Our offense needs to be patient, but if the opportunity arises, hit them deep.
Srew that house money crap, the jets are a better team in all aspects of the game save four, special teams and qb, head coach, linebackers against the pats We hold the aces in every other aspect. Lam
ive posted the numbers in 2 different threads now. this is simply false. teams arent "getting rid of it quick" vs us. nor or they often keeping in extra blockers. QBs have had the ball 3 seconds or more against us on passing downs on average. we have the 2nd fewest qb hits and are 21st in qb hurries. our elite defense has to do with being great vs the run game amking teasm 1 dimensional and putting them in 3rd and longs, having an elite secondary, and playing trash qbs who said anything about sacks? im not missing the sacks, im missing the pressures, qb hits, and forcing the qb off his spot. we arent forcing quick throws or pressure the qb. if our dline plays the pass the way it has thus far brady will throw for 500 yards
We can win with this team and CS We just gotta make it happen Game on National TV so here is a chance to get SOME RESPECT Jets- the new beasts of the East!!!!!!!!
First game of the season where we're actually playing a team playing like a playoff or even SB contender. Even if we lose, I'm looking forward to seeing just how close this team is. Are we a couple of pieces away from legit SB ambitions or simply a very good team with hopes of some postseason action.
I want to be cool and say its house money and this and that But it's not true in my heart I want the Jets to pound those bastards. I fear cheesy slip screens and 2 yard passes that go for 50 yards, and I fear bad penalties like 3rd and 17 defensive holding automatic first down. I sadly won't be enjoying the game unless we win. Just being honest.
At Hooters in St Thomas usvi, I am sure I will enjoy the Jets win today Edit: Lots of crispy new Pats jerseys, just overheard the next table has two Jets fans so not alone
