I sleep well thinking with a great deal of confidence that Maccagnan already has an outline for his off season plans. And more importantly had next season in mind when he made the moves he did this past off season.

The fact that Geno got himself injured thus robbing Mac the ability to fully evaluate the QB is probably frustrating him right now.

Not sure if giacomini is going to be cut. Colon will not be back and rebuilding the whole right side doesn't seem like a good idea.

I guess it doesn't but I'd rather sign someone on the same tier than pay a shitty player double what's he's worth. Giacomini's agent must've leveraged the hell out of Marshawn's success and the Superbowls.

The one good thing about him is his nastiness if he is quick enough to engage and get his hands inside.

Tough decisions like this will have to be made this offseason. Imagine they guaranteed more money on Cromartie's deal? We'd be finished next year.

I'm just worried about finishing this year. The Jets have only put together 2 good half seasons once in the the last generation, in 1998. We need to finish as well as we started and avoid the seed-killing stretch that seems to happen most years when the Jets are good.

The future is unpredictable and even the best teams can get laid low. This is the year. We need to win this year.

I don't think breno has played that bad. Which is to say i didn't notice him or remember the ref calling his number much. The line is playing good. Has he been shitty?

He doesn't seem like a positive or a negative really which you're right is a good thing. Maybe I'm being over critical and over thinking it I just hope we don't use a good young defender.

Powell is a better RB than we saw against Philly. The OL didn't play nearly as good that game. He was getting smashed in the backfield on the regular. No, he's not a starter, but he's a decent back.

wilkerson will not be back unless it's at a huge discount and there is no reason for him to do that.

As APK posted if we had a douche for a GM I would be worried but Mac is always working on who to keep, pay etc?

Am I hearing we have a surplus of great players?

    Well something is going well

Honestly, the last thing on Tod Bowles's mind is the day after this Sunday. Why don't we just focus on what the team is for now and ride
their coat-tails? Beat the Pats and get into the post season - that's about as far into the future we should cope with.

In this nfl, i would sacrifice a good defender (not mo) to ensure my oline was good and my qb was protected. Breno is probably harder to replace.

Powell will have to do for this year. In my opinion, you should always strive to have a second RB capable of being number 1 should number 1 (Ivory in this case) become injured. Makes no sense to go into 2016 with Powell as number 2 given your concession that "he's not a starter."

Well, it's kind of hard to have 2 #1 RB's on every NFL team. I'm fine with him as the backup in 2016.

I think they'll non-exclusive franchise him and if another team signs him then the jets can either match or get 2 first round picks. I can see another team doing that if he puts up a monster year this year. If not, are you sure the jets can't trade their rights to another team? This site would suggest they can - https://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20090105165825AAaWBCZ

I would think they could certainly trade him once he signs the franchise tender since at that point he's under contract.

Unless he wants to keep playing for the jets. How much of a difference in lifestyle do you think there is between making $12 million/year and $16 million/year?

    So according to the posts:
2016 Jets Cap Space before we do anything, about $9mil
Cutting dead weight contracts (Cro, Couples, etc) $18 mil
Restructuring D'Brick and Mangold lets say $6 mill between the two of them
    Salary cap increase $5 mil
Total Available Cap: $38 mil. I'd say that is at least enough to resign everybody we want.

My thoughts on some of the cuts/savings that will be implemented for 2016 Season:

    1) ($7.7M saved) Coples is gone
    2) (potential $2-4M saved) Cro will be willing to restructure. The big question is whether the Jets believe Cro can be a solid starting CB for 1-2 more years. Or perhaps the Jets feel that one of the young guns can step in as starter next year & Cro can be released for ($8M saved). Luckily for all of us, Bowles was a DB coach. So this area is his specialty.
    3) ($1.3M saved but 1.8M dead money) Kerley is likely gone and I'll never understand why he never fit. Before the season, I thought he would make a great #3 behind Decker & Marshall. Obviously, I was wrong.
    4) (1-2M saved). 5M for one of the best Centers in the game is still a good deal. I think Mangold can still play at at high level (top ten player) for about 3-4 more years. Hoping an extension and guaranteeing some of that money can lower his hit. Zero guaranteed money after this season. Pretty sure Mangold would love to change that. I'm expecting Mac to push some of Mangold's money into 2017 to lower the 2016 hit.
    5) (potential $4-7M saved) Like everyone else, I also believe D'Brick is gonna restructure. However, he has the Jets really fucked here. Unless Jets land a stud tackle in the first round, there's nobody to replace him. I think he negotiates yet another another extension (hopefully it only involves stretching that contract from 2017 to 2018). His play is declining but he's still OK and has a great injury history.
    6) ($2M saved) Cut Cumberland. I'm guessing that this salary is something close to what is needed to sign the draft picks though.

    ===
I think Sheldon gets suspended next year and I'm also not sure if he'll do something stupid again in the future to bring more suspensions. If he could be traded for someone that can play RT or LT on a rookie contract, I'm pretty sure Mac will seriously consider it.

Demario will get an offer but I don't think it'll be much. Don't think he's anything special but the wonderful Tanny drafted almost zero LB during his tenure. So it's not like the Jets have any other prospects. Idzik did the Jets no favors at LB too.

Agree that OL & RB really need to be given some priority this upcoming draft. Unless there's a really good draft value elsewhere, or solid QB prospect, I'd love to see Jets grab at least one tackle and RB in 2 of the first 3 rounds.
