You can be predictable, yet hard to stop. Not many corners in the league can take on Marshall 1 on 1. Decker the best "#2WR" in the league. Jets issues in the past was not having someone to get them the football. We finally might have a WR hit 1000 yards this season. Haven't had 1 since 2007 with J-Co.
The thing to realize is that the TO's are why the Jets are at 2-0 right now. Everything else suggests 1-1. So they need to step it up a bit if they want to continue on a roll. The TO's aren't going to keep breaking 5-1 in the Jet's favor all season.
http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.co...boys-were-calling-out-what-plays-were-coming/ THIS is predictability.
its not about knowing what kind of plays an offense runs, but how many options an offense is limited based on talent and circumstance. When your interior run game is nonexistent thats a option thats off the table. When your QB is off his game and your WR's aren't making catches thats another huge piece of your O taken away. (especially when playing a stout secondary). Get too much taken off the table and even you're effective offensive match ups mean dick all. why? because they're usage is now predictable. Its predicable that these one or two kind of plays are all you've got to get ahead. its predicable because you're forced to do it, and now any defense worth their salt that can exploit those aforementioned types of weaknesses can focus on stopping whats left. this is doubled when an O is behind. this is how you win football games. Its not knowing a playbook that makes a team predictable, its limiting options on that playbook. Good defenses with O's that are average or better FORCE opposing offenses into predictability. Football is a game of threats really. If you cant back up a threat in the NFL you lose an edge… and games.
