Listened to Chad Pennington yesterday. He said Geno has no business being a starter or even challenging for that job when healthy. Should focus on figuring out what his position is really about, the leadership it takes, what he needs to work at, things he shouldn't be doing and so on. Sort of echoing what fans have been saying but people in the organization are trying to sweep under the rug.
You should understand it, we have seen two years of some of the worse QB play of all time from him, that's why.
I read the article, and if you read very closely, I think you are (IMHO) taking his comments out of context... http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000532101/article/geno-smith-still-extremely-angry-about-punch
Since losing time due to injury, Fitz was given a chance at starting and we won 31-10 in his first game. Fitz will not get pulled until he has a bad performance and there's nothing Geno can do about it. You don't pull your current starting QB if you are rolling.
He wasn't "sucker punched" either. He got cracked straight up. BTW, $600 is not a minor debt but this was more about principle than the money I think.
If someone owes you money no matter the amount, then decides simply not to pay you AND on top of that get loud about it, something is gonna happen and it won't be nice. Like I said, Principle. There was an ATM machine right there for Geno to use but instead, thought he could blow off IK. You don't do that to anybody especially alpha males that hit people with their bodies for a living. If Geno is THAT mad about, why don't he look up IK and finish what was started. I'm sure IK can be easily located....If I were Rex, I would put IK in the game against the Jets on an obvious passing down just to see how "mad" Geno really is..
Nfl.com article where Geno goes on a rant about how angry he is.He sounds like he is taking zero accountability for what happend with his " poor me" bs Here's the link http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000532101/article/geno-smith-still-extremely-angry-about-punch
I swear I wouldn't be surprised if he isn't cut once he is healthy and if they sign Pryor I will be almost convinced that is their plan. The fact they are even thinking about him has to make you wonder. I know they are looking at him as a WR but he would also make the perfect emergency QB as well in this offense.
Funny you should say that.. I went fishing a couple of weeks ago wearing my Jets Polo. One of the mates said: " Jets fan huh? Your QB got knocked the fuck out!"... My response: "Should have paid the man instead of getting in his face and talking shit.."
Which is exactly why it should have been a non issue. But GeNO went the cheap route. He put himself into the line of fire. Geno is prone to making poor decisions especially on the field. Don't see him being nothing but a servicable back up and hopefully not on my team. JMO
Noticed your Avatar, hope you caught the season premier of South Park last night...hope everybody here did.
Exactly. Geno ducked out on IK without a call, without making any effort to make it up to him. And instead of being contrite about it he went the OTHER way and got in IKs face about it. _
This is all speculation, the entire incident was a huge embarrassment for the players, the organization, and the coaching staff. As long as we're speculating I would assume that Bowles sat the team down and said "not one word to the media about this incident, let it blow by as best we can, talking about it will only feed the NY media and make things ten times worse). The fact that really Marshall was the only one to come out and say really anything on it confirms it to me, he also keeps talking about things he's clearly been told to steer clear of, it's his personality. Revis said something but only right after it happened, then radio silence on all fronts.
Assuming you're on the right track, why didn't Geno just keep his mouth shut instead of saying I'm still "really angry" about this in some article. Like I said, if he's still angry, go find IK and finish it once and for all. If he can't or won't do that, then just STFU and try to salvage what's left of his career..
