It's hard to have regrets after 1 game..... Mariota played well but there were also lots of factors. Bucs looked like turd, poorly coached, poorly prepared, TB turned the ball over what 5 times? Pick 6 first play? Sure Mariota looked sharp, but he was in a plus situation from literally the first play.

Also, we never will know what it really would have taken, I'm assuming a shit ton (RG3 like). With that said, no I don't think I'll regret it unless he becomes the next ARod.

Besides, rather than having regrets over a hypothetical situation after literally 1 game, why don't we enjoy the fact that we scored 31 points for the first time since what feels like 1972, and looked quite sharp.

If we are going to play this dumb game, do to do it half assed. Whine about passing on Rogers and Brady; if we had drafted them we wouldn't even be thinking about who drafted Mariota.

why would he continue to play this way? TB sucks. He is bound to come down to earth against the better teams

No, I like having a good team.

Until he faces an even half decent defense, that first game is worthless.

bottom line: titans were not going to trade the pick, and we would have had that pick if rex had not gone all out to win a meaningless game against the titans last year.

so, if petty is not rushed and develops properly , it will not matter.

remember that 23 teams passed on Aaron Rodgers in the first round, and he sat for 3 years.

brady was 6th round pick and sat until mo lewis liberated him from a spot on the sidelines.......

Tennessee drafted Mariota at 2 to be their QB of the future. Clearly they loved him.

One of the golden rules of the draft is you dont trade a prospective franchise QB.

    He was never available.

If first games were a great indicator of future success than Stephen Hill would be a star.

Let's see Marriota play against a real team before jumping to conclusions. They played the Bucs, a team that's been in freefall since 2012.

There is no such thing as a meaningless win. YOU PLAY TO WIN THE GAME. do you not understand the concept of that? That's why these guys get paid, to win games.

That's absolute complete bs. How do you know that he was never available? Were you there in the war room on draft day? Did you tap into maccangans phone? Perhaps the jets made an offer and it just wasn't enough, we will never know for sure.

So did I miss something where we turned down a chance to trade for Mariotta?

    +1000

4-12 feels great right about now.

    So much better than 2-14.

No, we never had a shot to trade for him. The only way we were getting him is if we finished worse than the Titans.

If Tennessee drafted him to be their franchise QB, what makes you think they'd be open to trading him? You dont trade away a player you think is a franchise QB.

Rams did trade their pick to Washington for the second coming...Or the Third if you want to be literal about it.
