Earlier this week it was leaked that Washington had talks with a bunch of teams but there was no interest, that tells me he won't budge right now. Of course Washington could cut hit tomorrow and absorb the 6.7M hit this year just to be done with him and avoid the melodrama..I'm sure some teams are waiting to see.
The $16M is not guaranteed for performance. As long as the player is not injured during the 2015 season he's a free cut next year. So there's definitely a way to take a look at RG III this year and decide not to keep him, assuming he stays healthy, which is a big assumption. That's why the Jets would need a plan to get around the option if they don't want to keep him. At this late date there's no way the Jets could plan to play RG III as the QB for most of the season. He's been in the concussion protocol once already this season, which is why the Redskins are feeling pressure to dump him. They know that the injury guarantee for next year is a real possibility at this point given RG III's history. So, the Jets would have to plan to phase RG III in when he's fully recovered and also has learned the Jets offense and had time to practice. Then you have the "what if Fitzpatrick comes out hot and the Jets are winning?" issue. RG III might wind up glued to the bench for most of the season in that scenario. Then what happens to the guarantee for next year?
It's not clear that the Redskins can cut RG III until he returns to the field. They have an injury guarantee looming for 2016 and he left the field injured with a concussion last time he played for them. I'm not sure how the guarantee plays out if RG III is injured in 2015 and then gets cut without clearly recovering. If nothing else it could wind up in arbitration and you don't know where that winds up. $16M is a lot of money and it is definitely worth fighting for.
....the circus has definitely moved on.....to Washington Wife of Washington GM accuses ESPN reporter of oral sex for scoops, later apologizes BY Stephen Lorenzo NEW YORK DAILY NEWS Updated: Thursday, September 3, 2015, 7:51 AM Comcast Sportsnet Washington GM Scot McCloughan's (r.) wife Jessica (l.) stirs more controversy around the team with a tweet sent to an ESPN reporter on how she gets her stories. The NFL season hasn't started yet, but Washington is already in first place when it comes to being a circus act. On Wednesday, the wife of Washington general manager Scot McCloughan posted a disparaging remark about ESPN reporter Dianna Russini on Twitter. Jessica McCloughan apparently took exception to a report from Russini, which said there were disagreements within the organization about whether or not to move on from quarterback Robert Griffin III. "Please tell us how many BJ'S you had to give to get this story. And did they laugh at you before or after?" the tweet from Jessica McCloughan read. A subsequent tweet from McLoughan refered to Russini as the GM's "new side chick." The tweets were later deleted and, initially, the team insisted that it was sent by a fake account. Later on, however, an apology was issued by McCloughan through the organization. The tweet Jessica McCloughan sent to ESPN reporter Dianna Russini. FOLLOW DAILY NEWS SPORTS ON FACEBOOK. "LIKE" US HERE "I deeply apologize for the disparaging remarks about an ESPN reporter on my personal Twitter account," the statement obtained by ProFootball Talk read. "The comment was unfounded and inappropriate, and I have the utmost respect for both the reporter and ESPN. I regret that my actions have brought undeserved negative attention to the (Washington) organization and its leadership. My comments in no way reflect the opinions or attitudes of the organization and I regret that my behavior has in any way negatively impacted the team and its loyal fan base." ESPN responded with their own statement. "Dianna is an excellent reporter who should never have to be subjected to such vulgar comments," the network said. "We are obviously extremely disappointed by today's developments." WRC ESPN's Dianna Russini. Washington recently announced that Kirk Cousins would be the starting quarterback over Griffin, their former Rookie of the Year. The team shipped six picks to the Rams in 2012 to take Griffin with the second overall pick behind Andrew Luck. Injuries have certainly derailed Griffin's career, but many have questioned whether the organization's handling of the young quarterback has also helped him turn into a proverbial "bust." The organization has had its share of bad press for years, due to their bottom dwelling records and their inappropriate logo.
Half the football players in college probably got head from her back in the day. I love how these News Stations always act like their reporters have never had any sex.

I'm just not sure how the injury guarantee plays out. The guarantee is for his 2016 salary but if he gets hurt in 2015 does the guarantee still hold? It's possible the Redskins can do whatever they want under any circumstances in 2015 and not be on the hook for 2016 but I'm not sure. Trying to figure out the CBA without actually reading the whole thing is an exercise in futility.
Bottom line his rookie year was so electrifying that you can't help to mull the idea. "Is that guys still in there?" "If healthy and under a change of scenery can we get RGIII back?" I can't help but be inticed a little bit, I'll be honest.
So if the 16M isn't guaranteed and let's be honest there's zero chance the Skins pay that, why wouldn't he renogiate his contract for a trade unles 16 M is guaranteed?
He is already guaranteed his pay for this year, if he does not renegotiate he possibly is cut free at the end of the year or sooner and gets to negotiate with all teams. Why would he limit himself to one team by negotiating a new contract for a trade? There is much less leverage from his side doing that.
