Marshall made the right move because (i) his Showtime Football Show is a 40 minute drive from his house and not a 3 hour flight and (ii) his post-football career will be in front of a studio camera somewhere in NYC. Not because of the Jets or Geno or camaraderie or getting a shot at the Super Bowl or because he loves living in NJ. _
Well i'm hearing more and more about Geno being medically cleared and ready to go by week 1.. but Bowles probably isn't letting that happen regardless. I have a feeling he'll get that starting gig back eventually though and sooner than later, i'm calling Bowles bluff. https://medicfl1.wordpress.com/2015/08/17/the-return-of-geno-smith/
I know you've all heard this but hadn't seen this posted. Interesting take by Bart and his comparison with Sanchez. http://www.foxsports.com/nfl/story/new-york-jets-geno-smith-bart-scott-atm-players-lounge-082615 Bart Scott: Geno Smith walked by ATM in players' lounge every day It's been nearly a month since Geno Smith had his jaw broken by IK Enemkpali, but the story still won't die. Everyone has an opinion of the situation, with people taking both Enemkpali and Smith's sides. Former New York Jets linebacker Bart Scott shared a tidbit this week that adds another wrinkle to the case for Smith being at fault. In Scott's mind, it would have been very easy for Smith to pay Enemkpali the $600 he owed him. "I can understand how that situation can escalate, especially because there’s an ATM in the players’ lounge," Scott said at CBS' Media Day, via the New York Post. "Come on, bro, you’re walking by an ATM every day. It’s just bam, bam, get the money." Granted, the normal maximum ATM withdrawal allowance per day is $300, but you get Scott's point. To him, it could have been as simple as that for the QB to pay back any money owed, and Smith would likely still be on the field. Instead, the situation escalated and landed Smith a broken jaw and Enemkpali a new job with the Buffalo Bills. According to Scott, if it was Mark Sanchez in the same situation, things would have been completely different. "I’ve never heard anyone get into it with the quarterback,” Scott said. "In my opinion, if you put Mark Sanchez into that same situation and he couldn’t make it to the charity event or whatever happened, what a quarterback is supposed to do is to give you your $600 and donate $1,000 to your charity. That’s what a leader does. Maybe Geno is too young in the process to understand that and he has to mature more." Although it sounds like Scott is taking Enemkpali's side, he still doesn't believe it was right to punch the team's quarterback. "Maybe IK was under pressure because I’m sure he was excited that he could announce to his small town that he had the starting quarterback from an NFL team coming," Scott said. "You can understand his disappointment. With that being said, I don’t condone his actions." Smith is expected to miss the first four regular-season games as Ryan Fitzpatrick will lead the team in his absence. Upon returning to the team, it remains to be seen if Smith will be given the reins once again. _
The way this story is trickling out makes Geno out to be a punk. I can't say I was happy with us taking him after the way he sulked around after the first round that year. I tried to give him some credit for coming on back for the second, Although, I still didn't want us to take him. Once we did I tried my best to support the guy but there have been incidents that make you wonder if the boy's head is on right. One such incident was on the sidelines after he was pulled last season. I think it was the Buffalo/3 int first quarter game. Geno was hanging around on the sideline with his helmet on looking like a fricking momo.
IK doesn't have "a charity" ... Like a charitable foundation or what not. It was simply a youth camp at his old high school that Geno Smith couldn't attend. (That he charged kids for attendance btw) I understand Geno Smith could've and should've handled it differently but let's not act like IK isn't a shitbag himself. Geno walked by the ATM sure, but IK punched him in the fuckin face over a 3 hour camp and chump change that he probably made at his camp anyway.. Let's not make it out like he's Mother Theresa and Geno Smith burnt his house down. He is an asshole too, considering his history he's probably more of an asshole. Btw ESPN today had a headline today "Cops: IK hit a man he thought was a woman" I laughed cause I thought it was about Geno at first but apparently it was from 2011 and it was another time he couldn't control himself. He got catfished. Lol pretty typical of ESPN to pass off ancient history as breaking news though
The comparison is that a guy like Sanchez wouldn't have allowed the situation to fester. He would have paid him back AND made an effort to do something else. Maybe not make a donation but an effort to reach out to the kids or something. Btw, IKs camp cost $25 per camper. That's basically to cover costs, IK wasn't trying to make money off the kids. It's almost charity on HIS part because he's trying to give back to his community. No reason to punch someone but I'm feeling more and more someone was the bigger shitbag. _
Geno will forever be remembered as the idiot QB who ran his mouth and got knocked out. No one knows the future, but there is at least a small chance that Geno will never start another game in the NFL. I bet Geno would give anything to go back in time and do it the right way.
How often do you take the recommendation of a doctor that never even talked to you? That was some anonymous guy posting on his blog, about an article on another site, talking about a statement from a doctor that did not look at any medical records, talk to anyone, nothing. When you hear from a doctor that actually has at least been in the same room as him then maybe you might have something. I wouldn't even read too much into it them either, probably looking after the bye unless Fitz really tanks.
Like ummmm.... Going to the ATM machine right there in the bldg and withdrawing the 6bills perhaps...?
Bills' IK Enemkpali involved in 2011 catfishing-type incident http://espn.go.com/espn/otl/story/_...as-woman-arranged-sex-according-police-report The outside linebacker who punched New York Jets quarterback Geno Smith during a locker room dispute missed his college team's 2011 season opener because he injured his hand when punching a man he thought was a woman with whom he had arranged to have sex, Outside the Lines has learned. According to the police report, on Sept. 1, 2011, Enemkpali began exchanging messages with a new Facebook friend named "Missy Lee," who offered to perform oral sex on Enemkpali if he would come over to her house. He told police that after he entered the house through a side door, he saw a figure inside "covered head-to-toe in a blanket," and the person would not remove the blanket. "Enemkpali stated that he felt uneasy about the situation, so he left," the report states. But Enemkpali returned to the house after "Missy Lee" called him and convinced him to come back. When he arrived, the person wearing the blanket still refused to remove it and also refused to turn on the lights. When a cellphone in the room rang, "the screen lit up the room enough to see that the person under the blanket had facial hair," the report states. Enemkpali said another person had also entered the room. "Enemkpali stated that he felt that he was being 'set up' for a robbery of some type," the police report states. "Enemkpali stated that fearing for his safety, he then struck the subject in the blanket. Enemkpali stated that after he struck this person, their voice changed to that of a male. Enemkpali stated that he then left the residence through the window." Enemkpali told police he started receiving threatening texts in which "Missy Lee" accused him of punching her and knocking out her teeth. "U are going to jail," read one of the texts. He offered $500, but "Missy Lee" demanded $1,000 or the police would be called. "He [Enemkpali] would be 'finished' if that happened." The texts were followed by phone calls from someone claiming to be "Missy Lee's" father and demanding payment. Police traced the phone numbers to a man named Ketryn Anderson, who initially lied to police but eventually admitted to reaching out to Enemkpali via Facebook and later posing as "Missy Lee's" father on the phone, the report states. He denied hiding under a blanket but did say he refused to turn on the lights. Anderson "stated that he was not attempting to extort money from Enemkpali, only to get him to pay for the damage he had done to his face." Anderson, 34, is listed on Facebook as a senior pastor and founder of Life Community Church in Shreveport, Louisiana.
For punching the guy? No. For BEING in that situation in the first place because he wants to do naughty things with a person he's never met? Absolutely dumb as bricks...that's on him.
No one ever defended IK for throwing punch. As a matter of fact I recall quite a few people saying he deserved to be cut. What is interesting is Geno walked past an atm for 2 weeks and did nothing to try to resolve it. A leader does not do that. You can say allot of bad things about both Geno and Sanchez they are both interception machines but at least one is a better teammate then the other.... for the story above that coupled with the punching the cop should have been some red flags for Idzik and Rex but.....
That's bad enough, but the dumb mfer went back a SECOND TIME after he was already suspicious!!!! ROFLMAO!
