I've bashed Sanchez plenty. Honestly, I'm entertaining a trade of a 5th rounder here to bring him back for a 2nd go of it.
Yeah I understand the camp cut part, but you identify the downside of waiting. If someone available now is suitable as a vet backup, the Jets should make the move.
That's where you're totally wrong and shows what an ass you are. Only small, petty people don't apologize. When people apologize it makes them stronger, because it takes guts and integrity to apologize. Obviously, you lack both of those attributes. When people don't apologize it clearly demonstrates that they're too insecure to admit that they're wrong and too selfish and uncaring about others. That and your crass comments of last night are why you are now on ignore to stay.
I am not sure what crass comments you are talking about but calling me names does not show a great deal of maturity. The main reason for my post was to throw support behind Mettenberger who I happen to like. The rest was a Joh Wayne quote.
How is that a circus? 2 years 9 million for a guy who has won 4 playoff games on the road for us and played well last year and just a stopgap for a guy developing? Yea I'm a real ass
I'm not sure what you mean, it isn't clear at all, but if you're saying what I think you're trying to say, no, it doesn't mean any such thing. Most teams carry 3 QBs. They try to have a quality starting QB, a vet backup and the #3 QB is usually a younger developmental type, or a really limited vet. If the starter goes down for any length of time, I think most teams usually scurry to find a FA QB on the street who can come in and function as the backup while the original backup moves up to the starting spot. Whether they actually sign one of those street vets, depends upon their cap space, how much the QB wants and what they think of their #3 QB. In our case Petty is not ready to play on the NFL level. He is an excellent prospect and the Jets cannot risk harming his development and confidence by forcing him on the field before he is ready. He hasn't adjusted to the speed of the NFL, he doesn't know the system, and I'm betting isn't capable of going through multiple progressions and reading more complex NFL Ds yet, either.
I didn't say that you were an ass. I just said it would be an awful idea, and it is. You sound like you're young and haven't been around sports for very long. If so, your idea is more understandable, but it doesn't make it any better. Can't you see how bringing Sanchez back would be a circus? He hasn't improved any, isn't the answer and most Jets fans would boo him off the field. The NYC media would have a field day. You just don't bring back former players like that. Revis is one thing. He's a great player, and he never played poorly and was a lightning rod for criticism because of his play on the field like Sanchez was. Bringing back Sanchez would be like Steinbrenner continually bringing back Billy Martin and/or his pitching coaches. You just don't do that. But let's say for a second that it wouldn't be a circus. Unless I'm mistaken, Sanchez is still the Eagles #2 QB. They aren't going to trade him, and even if they were willing, it would cost way too much to acquire just for a few games.
I understand where you're coming from but I still disagree. I think it could still work with a different coach at the helm.
just announced. they are bringing in tebow, and switching the offense to the full-house t-formation. seriously, let us not panick. if petty serves as the temp #2 for a few weeks, it isn't the end of the world. unlike the 60's, qbs don't call their own plays. it is not like you need a genius back there. run the ball a lot, and play good defense. worked for the steelers with a rookie named rothlisberger.
This will be an important game for Bryce tonight. If he shows us something and follows it up the weeks later with decent performances I think we'll keep him as the #2. If he goes out there and turns the ball over 2+ times Bowles will probably try to bring in a veteran option like Thigpen or Grossman.
Fair enough. I like Bowles & Chan Gailey as much as, if not more than anyone else, but imo if Chip Kelly hasn't been able to make anything out of Sanchez, I don't think Gailey would be able to either.
I love it when TGG members add some common sense to the BS that gets splattered around here....thanks BN
In all fariness to JetLife I kinda thought the same thing without actually watching a whole lot of Titan TV last season. Only because we heard the Titans are high on the kid and my trade out of #2. Guess that was all a smoke screen hahaha
