It makes perfect sense. How does it not? I don't think Geno was going to be a franchise QB from the start because he processes information far too slow.

Fitz is what he is. A solid backup QB and solid spot starter, Geno has a higher ceiling and has the better physical tools. Geno has 2 years of NFL experience and while he's struggled he's also shown promise and some potential. The goal is to find a franchise QB and if you've already invested years and a draft pick into the guy you want to do your due diligence. If he stinks this year then you move on. Petty isn't ready and Geno has two years under his belt.

15 ints is still alot. An improvement for our standards but still alot.

But you don't know if he would've turned the corner, but there was one way to find out. Think about this. Fitz sat on the bench for 4 seasons before getting his chance to start a few games due to Palmer getting hurt, and he looked worse than Geno did in his first year and this was despite Geno not even knowing how to do a 3/5/7 step drop. So once again who's to say that Geno couldn't develop into a solid starter and continue to progress? Fitz looked like shit until 2010 when he had his first decent year which was 6 years into his career and after 4 years of riding the bench. The bottom line is you have to give guys a chance to develop.

Ceiling and physical tools mean nothing if you can't get the mental aspect of the game down. Again, really wanted to see what Geno had to offer THIS year - I don't see the coaching staff waiting another year to see if Geno is the guy or not. Stacks are completely against him at this point. If Fitz plays well, Geno won't see another snap this season. He lost his starting job.

I agree, it's uninspiring - but it's all we got right now. We may or may not have seen the last of Geno Smith - it won't be easy gaining that respect back from the locker room; IF he ever had it to begin with.

But for some people it takes time for the game to slow down for them. We need to play Geno so we can avoid these discussions. You get my drift?

Don't expect much from one with a life time record of 22 games under .500 - 33-55 - just because we think it's an improvement over
    Smith, it ain't saying much

Which would be the highest level of QB play we've seen since 08.

I'm surprised everyone is overlooking the leadership qualities of Mr. Jake Heaps.

    He's young, vibrant and Mormon.
With a lively arm that's perfect for a pro spread offense.....and he's already in camp.

    Next man up.

You're out of your mind, and need to change your name. Geno will never play another down in the NFL, good riddance. I'm loving contending this year with a Harvard man, letting Bryce learn, and ridding the franchise of the absolute abortion that has been Geno Smith.

For some QBs, the game just never slows down for them. Geno had a chance to really prove this to everyone, instead he gets involved in a locker room fight. This team will move on w/ or w/out Geno Smith as this regime has no ties to him what-so-ever. This was a chance for him to really prove himself to this new regime.

Not putting the altercation on Geno, but he should've done better in that regard.

I would feel a lot better if I had never seen Fitz play. He always seemed to throw an INT at a big point against us. IN fact, I used to sit there anticipating it.

If Geno had paid his debt, he would not be looking like Charlie McCarthy for the next two months.

    I would say there's a 75% chance that we don't find out.

No offense guys, but I think I have found out enough about Geno. I thought I had found out enough about him during his senior year at WVU.

The way I look at it, Fitz has smarts and experience. He cannot throw it deep and he cannot get away any more. Geno can. But Geno lacks smarts and experience. You measure game management skills vs athletic skills. What do you come up with. Not that we have a choice, but I guess we are not totally ruined. We did not know what we were going to get from Geno when the bell rang for the real games either.
