Maybe he is so dumb that he thought that this already came out and his you won't see me trouble anymore comment meant after this last debacle.
dude don't be that guy. We all saw the video & there is no defending what Rice did. he's a scumbag. Richardson is a dipshit too, lets leave it at that. Theres no need to make some of the truly heinous claims you are saying to feel you won an argument. Rice hit a woman for shits sake. he's a scumbag
In the motherland it's common practice to fly down the autobahn at speeds exceeding 140 mph. Maybe it's his German bloodline
Seriously, this guy has had some serious lapse in judgement, but it's such a turn off to see everybody pontificating and ringing the shame bells. Im no christian, but if I recall theres a quote in the bible about throwing the first stone. I'm not excusing anything Richardson has done, but I'd rather pray for the man to get his life together rather than join the shame parade. I know some of you model citizens on the moral high ground will attack me for saying this, but the guy is human and is going through a tough time. And let's be honest, how many of you actually want to see the man get his life together, or are you just pissed that he is not going to be on the field for the Jets? I'm just as disappointed as anyone, but I hope the guy can piece things together for himself personally before he makes a return to the field. Best of luck to him.
Whether we believe it makes him a scumbag can be discussed separately from the fact that she was equally an aggressor and he was arguably defending himself. I don't agree with the idea that he was defending himself in this situation because it is clearly a scenario where both were being equally violent with one another. My issue with this scenario was the narrative that she was a victim and he was the aggressor. He was as much a victim of her abuse as she was to his, he just hits harder. I think the scenario with the kid from FSU is worse, though. That's a situation in which she was the clear aggressor; why do you think no criminal charges were filed against him. The bitch kneed him in the dick. No man has to walk away from that. It reflects poorly on him that he didn't, but the media completely ignores what she did, and when they do so they justify and encourage the idea that women should be able to physically attack men without repercussion because the man will be the one judged harshly if he does retaliate. We are creating the environment where women feel empowered to abuse men because if the man retaliates we victimize her and crucify him. Yes, a man should be judged harshly for hitting a woman even if he is hit first if she isn't a serious threat, but the woman's actions shouldn't be dismissed otherwise we are creating the dangerous perception in women that they are never wrong, and they pay the price when they attack the wrong man. Anyone who excuses and dismisses the women's actions in these situations plays a part in what happens to them because they are supporting that behavior that has a very dangerous repercussion.
I would say racing a car above the speed limit, smoking weed, evading police, driving without lights, losing control of the vehicle, hitting over 140 mph and doing all this with a 12 year-old in the car qualifies one as a criminal.
I had to fill a requirement for my degree(history) and took a history of women in society class. The womens ed teacher had a tendency to get off topic and discuss a multitude of issue in the 95% female class. At point while discussing violence against women she called on me and i gave the standard "hitting women is wrong" and her response blew me away. " if the point of feminism is for women to be treated equally to men then in situations like the FSU one is the guy not being a feminist as he would have treated a man the exact same way in that situation? Are we not wrong to judge him as it considers her inferior because if he hit a man in that situation we wouldn't think twice about it?" the obvious answer is for no one in society to use violence and by no means do i support violence against women, but i do believe it is a rather interesting way to look at this.
It's a distinction that's hard to draw. Nobody lost property illegally as a result of Richardson's actions. Nobody was hurt or killed. No threats or intimidation were involved. The distinction between a criminal and a person in violation of the law has always been difficult to draw. I'd argue that the fact that Richardson surrendered once he was finally caught instead of fighting or fleeing is one factor that you have to look at. The fact that no theft was involved is a factor you have to look at. The fact that nobody actually got hurt or killed is a fact that you have to look at. The fact that the gun was legal and stayed under the mat during the encounter is something you have to look at. Criminals are people who cause damage, destruction, violence, loss and in many cases go into the act intending to do so. Sheldon Richardson did several really stupid things that night but none of them mark him as a criminal in my mind in the absence of other factors. An idiot? Yes.
I'm sure he had a urinalysis the day he got to camp and it's been 16 days since the incident. It's a very good chance he will get another 10 game suspension just for failing that, that's 14 games this season! I bet Bowles and Mac are waiting on the results of this test so they can let the league take action and get him some help. Then you have the personal conduct policy as well, he probably won't play this year at all. Damn shame.
if I`m jet management I`d tell him to leave camp now!!! your a distraction !!!! come back when you got your shit together unbelievable this ass -hole under contract and cant make OTA`s ??? I guess to busy smoking weed and street racing with minors in the car!!!! .......Mo W look to get pay now brother!!!
After the off-season he's had it would be a good thing if he didn't play this year. Just about everything about his personal life is going to have to change if he wants a decent NFL career. That's a tall order for anybody to manage but it's more likely if the consequences of his personal life are drummed into him all season with missed pay checks and the prospect of a future big deal becoming more remote every week.
I wholeheartedly agree. The only people that fail to recover, [and this is from my own experience] are those that do not pay the full consequences of their actions. If he gets a pass he will not change.
The cops heavily suspect that Richardson threw all of his weed out of the car window during the chase. Wow, legitimately the only even remotely intelligent thing he did in the whole ordeal. Doesn't bode well on his chances at passing that drug test though.
I expect Sheldon to be suspended 12 games... get slapped with a $1000 fine for his incident... Hopefully he gets some long-term probation so we know he won't be smoking unless he doesn't mind losing his career and spending a few years in a prison cell.
