Maybe he knows something--I'd bet IK makes the 53. Cimini says 5 WR's and 5 RB's. Personally thinking we go 6 WR's and 4 total RB's (3+ 1FB, or 4RB). Else, no other surprises. http://espn.go.com/blog/new-york-jets/post/_/id/52246/new-york-jets-53-man-roster-projection
He has Milliner beginning the season on the PUP list.... I bet he's wrong about Darrin Walls, I bet you Walls gets cut this year and a safety like Rontez Miles or Eskridge takes his place
Do teams that have an H-back position on the roster usually keep a FB also? I'm betting Tommy Bohannon is a cut. The Jets will use Sheldon Richardson as the FB when they need one. In fact, they probably want to use Richardson as the lead blocker on the goal line anyway.
He doesn't. There's no way IK gets cut, he's our only true edge rusher outside of Babin maybe but he's close to being done. IK is about to blow up, he's got too much upside. His projected linebackers look just stupid. There's just no wait it'll play out like that. Babin, Pace, Lattimore, Reilly and Henderson? Please. I'd be shocked if we keep more than 2-3 of them around. Let alone all of them.
Gailey used fullbacks for less than 10 snaps all season in both of his last 2 years in Buffalo. I too think Bohannon is a goner. He's gonna have to make a splash on specials
or be one hell of a pure RB/backfield receiving threat. they went and got another fullback to compete with him so maybe chan isn't completely done with that position. IK stands a better chance at keeping his job than the significantly older slightly more expensive Babin. if he flashes even the tinniest bit of upside as a pure rush OLB, or hell finds a niche in any 4-3/4-2 alignments I see no reason for Maccagnan not to keep him over Babin.
prob won't be cut but it wouldn't shock me. new regime doesn't always keep around past regimes picks.
If IK gets cut I'm gonna be mad when he becomes an elite pass rusher for the pats and kills us for ten years
Personally I would take IK over any linebacker on the roster minus Harris, Davis, Coples, and Mauldin. It's those four, then Ik, then Pace, then Lattimore
If Cimini knows something, it will be the first time. He can't even get his facts straight. He said: I would be surprised if both Pace and Babin make the roster, but not shocked, I guess. Unless Milliner is not healthy, I think it might be a mistake to put him on the PUP list. I wouldn't be surprised by 10 DBs, but I don't think Bohannon is worth keeping. I'd rather they keep Ik or either another WR, OL or DL.
Keeping 5 backs is a waste of resources when you know Richardson will always be hanging around in free agency if someone goes down. Most teams rely on the fact that free agent runningbacks can be plugged in to play much easier than most NFL positions. I don't like the idea of keeping a "pass catching" fullback. We can use someone else for the 13 yards a game he gets all year on play action bullshit. If he's an all world blocker then by all means. If you're using him as a receiver throw the tightend in the backfield 4 or 5 plays a game even if it's predictable. I like the idea of keeping a ton of versatile linebackers. We will see a lot of action over the middle since the cornerbacks are so good. We need athleticism there on 3rd down since David Harris is horrible in coverage (great blitzer though). A wide array of linebackers leaves Bowles without a lot of scheme options. I'd keep IK for the simple fact that he's balls to the wall every chance he gets. Pass rushing is just as much about relentlessness as it is athleticism and skill. Check out Dumervil and Suggs. Neither are very athletically gifted but they will run through a fuggin wall to get the quarterback on the ground (granted both have developed very good pass rushing moves as their careers have progressed). They get very innovative with their packages putting four men on the line with two players on each side in a wide 9 look in 3rd and longs. It's absolutely awesome. Leaves the guards hopeless and useless because they're so far away from the rushers.
Why? What has Miles done to earn a spot? Besides, he's pretty slow. A slow safety is pretty useless. Harrison I can understand, because even though he was a UDFA and has had work ethic issues at least in college, he has a ton of potential, and would likely get snatched off the PS if he even clears waivers.
We took Jarvis Harrison in the 5th round... Also Miles had a great start to last year before the injury. Not saying he's a lock, but the early returns on him were pretty good, albeit in a short amount of time.
