It's possible, but I think it was just that Williams was so far and away the highest guy left on the draft board (maybe the #1 guy on our draft board) that they couldn't justify not going with the best player available.

Well this sucks, but it happens. Fortunately we're still above average in defensive line talent, since we still have Douzable in the rotation. I guess we're gonna see what Big Cat's got a little sooner than expected

The difference, of course, is that one is a federal felony to possess (and a Schedule 1 Controlled Substance) and the other can be bought in any liquor store (hell, grocery store) in the country.

For sure. Either way I was happy with the pick that nite. But I'm just thinking they couldn't of been happier that he fell into their laps and I guess it made the pick a no brainer for them.

Mac and TB both said afterwards a couple of times: 'You can never have enough Defensive Lineman'

You are literally proving my point. The idea that pot is Schedule 1 is laughable. If the NFL had any common sense (they don't) they would have rules against pot on the books and only enforce them when someone does something truly stupid like post them taking a bong hit on twitter.

Do you know what the criteria is that the federal government uses to determine whether something is classified as Schedule 1? If you did, you might think that the criteria should change, but you wouldn't think it was "laughable" that it's Schedule 1 under the current criteria.

    1. The drug or other substance has a high potential for abuse. BOOZE enough said
    2. The drug or other substance has no currently accepted medical use in treatment in the United States. The medical benefits of Marijuana have been proven in a variety of ailments including arthritis and off-setting the sickness from chemotherapy.
    3. There is a lack of accepted safety for use of the drug or other substance under medical supervision. Once again booze. Far less safe and requires no doctors.

Dumb dip. I hope this makes him a little more humble. Between calling a timeout in the packers game and costing his team the tieing TD, and running his mouth over Wilk's contract, Richardson has been way too visible for the wrong reasons. A great talent who needs to grow up and be a professional.

I think it's ridiculous that they test these guys for marijuana. Why is it OK to consume alcohol, which can kill you if you drink enough, but you're banned from smoking marijuana whose effects wear off rather quickly and which is legal in many states?

It's called "rules". Think of it like the speed limit.

    Yup.

A fucking idiot that can't control himself and will cost us games.

Of course it's his fault but the NFL really needs to change its rules. Their only concern should be performance enhancing substances. I'm surprised no one has challenged the legality of these drug tests.

Imagine you took a job and they regularly tested you for alcohol use. It's a fantastic job but you could never have a drink with friends again.

thats your choice to work where you cannot consume alcohol. at my job, if you are hurt at work you are drug tested. if positive they can with hold workers comp benefits. because of that i do not smoke, and i smoked every day before i had stuff to lose. the league says no smoking, period. either don't play in the league or wait till your career is over.

If I was offered a great job where they told me I couldn't drink alcohol, I would either (i) take the job and not drink alcohol or (ii) not take the job.

I wouldn't lament that the employers rules were stupid and suggest they change them.

Employers set the rules ESPECIALLY if the employees--the NFLPA--agreed to them.

He's a fucking moron, just like Josh Gordon.

I've never been on the pot so I find theses excuses silly, but at the end of the day-- they KNOW the rules.

    Just don't fucking smoke weed.

So, in other words, your complaint is that alcohol is not a scheduled as a controlled substance (under the Controlled Substances Act) ... not that marijuana is incorrectly scheduled as a Schedule 1 Controlled Substance. And the answer to that is ... the law (the Controlled Substances Act) specifically excludes alcohol (and tobacco); so good luck with that.

We are getting incredibly far away from the initial point of this thread and that's that Richardson is an idiot. I will gladly continue to discuss why marijuana should fall to the same classification as alcohol and tobacco but let's move this to the bs forum.
