Here are some statistical arguments on Geno's behalf: 1) Geno Smith is only about 24, the same age Bryce Petty is now. Geno broke out in college early and that's a good statistical predictor for success. 2) In Geno's first year, his third down conversion rate was very good. Third down conversion rate is correlated with NFL success. 3) In terms of DVOA, Geno was about as good as Andy Dalton with and without pressure. The only statistical difference between the two is that Dalton faced less pressure (or else he had better pocket presence). 4) Geno's TD rate went up and conversely his INT and sack % went down in the final 4 or 5 games last year. This may be an outlier or it could e a sign of something more. We'll just have to wait and see.
I own my feelings, but not because you tell me what I should do cause, really, what difference does it make? Are you jealous? Or do you think the coaching staffs love Smith more than the team? Cause they are the ones who anointed him the starter.
in that scenario, its no longer a stat, its an analysis. stats are based on facts. something happened or it didnt happen and the quantities that go along with that. Even if you have the smartest football minds making unbiased analysis, it still isnt facts and thus is not a statistic

Wins = team accomplishment. geno didnt lead the team to anything. just like it was all geno's fault that we lost 12 times last season. smiths total body of work has been terrible. there is no if or buts about it. him being young and a two year player just means that he is a young player who has sucked. it doesnt change the fact that he sucked. playing good for a handful of games, or having 1 "perfect" game doesnt change that overall he as sucked. even in the last 8 games, his QB rating is among the worst of NFL starters and in the lower half of the league... and i already showed how since harvin arrived he actually had a worse QB rating (75.9) then prior to harvin. Sanchez, also, was terrible. he played very well in the playoffs, i will give him that, but they were fortunate to even make the playoffs because sanchez was so bad. it took a ton of luck for us to even get in.
so in other worse, he played like trash for 8 games, and played well for 6 games? and that is good because... why?
Because it likely shows a young QB maturing. But I wouldn't use those words because they are absurdly negative and ignorant of how well or badly his supporting cast and the defense played during that period.
Don't know, and, really, don't care. But you're welcome to research your own opinion. Maybe try researching it BEFORE posting?
throwing up some good stats in meaningless games after we were mathmatically out of the playoffs? most in garbage time? worst QB in football statistically over the past 2 seasons.
Hmm, research without findings or even listing the factors in your opinion...doesn't sound like actual research...sounds like ignorant player bashing. Cause I'm thinking, off the top of my head: Ryan Leaf, Browning Nagle, and any number of QBs who performed badly enough not be starting their second year. FLUSH!!
Dude come on he was terrible in 13. Despite starting all 4 games in november he only completed 29 passes in the ENTIRE MONTH. 2013 (November 3rd- December 1st 4 game stretch) 1-3 Record 29-74 for 374 yards 39% completion 93 Yards per game 0TDs 6 INTs I don't care what metrics you want to use but theres just no fuckin way you can possibly claim a QB that went an ENTIRE QUARTER OF AN NFL SEASON without throwing a TD pass and only completing 39% of his passes had anything but a terrible year.
So, if he played badly during those games, you'd be all over him. But because it doesn't fit YOUR criterion of "meaningful" it's to be ignored. Got it. Clearly, it wasn't meaningless to the players, teams, coaches, and management who lost jobs.
Unless they actually WIN some games... But, to paraphrase Allen Iverson: "we're talking about 2013, his rookie year, with receivers that couldn't start for Ohio State..." Context, my brother, Context.
they didn't. they went 1-3 in that stretch and Geno Smith single handedly eliminated them from the playoff race
last time I checked ONE is a subset of SOME. Are we really STILL talking about 2013? Is that what you are staking your present assessment of Smith on? That's your most potent argument?! one word: WEAK!!
