As much as I hate them, the rivalry matters. It's what's great about sports. Funny, I remember rooting for them as a kid during their first few SB appearances, but then something happened. It might have been their fans waving white hankies in the stands or realizing that the front-runner kids in school had become Dolphin fans. I remember being happy when the Raiders knocked them out on that crazy Stabler play. By then I began to realize they were division rivals. They were everybody's darlings, we were trash. (In the eyes of the sporting world) Then we improve, and Shula leaves the field uncovered for the AFC Championship game. (Sounds belichick-like, doesn't it?) A few years go by, and that prick Marino takes advantage of the rule protecting QB's when they motion to spike the ball to stop the clock, and on it goes. We don't yet know how this regime will fare, but I'll tell you what, the AFC is shaping up to be an incredible division. There's a thousand reasons to hate the Pats, hundreds to hate the Dolphins. I used to dislike Buffalo during their "glory" years of course, but I enjoyed Rex as our coach so it'll take a while to build that hate up. I don't see it approaching the Miami/New England level, but that's the beauty of it.
One need only look back to last season. There were at least a couple of polls asking the same question regarding Revis coming back to the NYJ. Mevis, past his prime, traitor etc were the reasons Jet fans gave for not wanting him back. I think it is fair to say that it would be very hard to find a Jet fan that is not happy that 24 is back in green and white.
I looked back to last season and could only find one poll and the vast majority wanted Revis back. In fact only 21% did not want him back. Of course as always some change their mind after the fact but this started out with the vast majority wanting him so I am not sure what you post intended to prove. I've got no doubt that of the 82% that do not want the cheater Br*dy as a member of the Jets, some may change their minds but I also have no doubt the vast majority still would not want him here.
Again cheating is as American as apple pie. All of these self righteous posters who are aghast at all of this are fos. I'd take BB over Brady because I think he would turn things around and Brady couldn't although I'd take him. So if either one of them ever came here it would be up to Woody to make sure it doesn't happen. Put a clause in their contracts that would make it financially prohibitive to break league rules. And tell them personally: if you embarrass me I'll condemn you publically.
Try doing that in college. If you get by just fine, let me know what school that is. Cheating is NOT accepted nor should it be. Self righteous? Holy shit. So we, as Americans, should welcome a blatant cheater that is Tom Brady? Are you fucking nuts?
Look as a Jets fan what do you say if one of our receivers traps a ball and holds it up like he caught it. Or say Bowles gets inside info from somebody on another team about their game plan or injuries. What do you want him to do tell the NFL? What Brady did in the scheme of things is no big fucking deal. But he got caught and has to be punished. In addition to this he's a liar.
fuck this. i'd rather the sons and leonard williams kick brady's ass and watch Bill fall back to a mediocre HC without brady after he hangs it up!
Stop projecting, just because you would accept cheating does not mean the rest of us need to sink to your level.
It's just the facts of life. Plus I don't believe your self righteousness for a minute. But you're right in that New England brings it to a new low level.
1. Instant replay will catch that. 2. I have no problem with that lucky inside info [like the one Jimmy Johnson somehow lucked into during his SB run] 3. What I have problem with is a DELIBERATE, PREMEDITATED CHEATING. What's so hard to understand?
It is absolutely not the facts of life and even though you want to think everyone resides at your level, most are honest and obey the rules and laws. I don't care if you believe me or not, I know who I am. I don't claim to be perfect and I may speed occasionally and I have brought a book or two back to the library late but I don't make a habit of looking for ways to get around rules or game the system. It seems you are surrounded by cheaters in your life and that sucks especially if you have children. We don't need another generation.
Did you ever cheat on your taxes. Not New England Patriots cheating but kind of forget to report something minor or pad your deductions for charity.
I feel everybody has broken a rule at least once in their lives and even more definate have lied. Maybe not a law, but certainly a rule. I once spoke in class when I wasn't supposed to, just to lay an example.
Anyone that is trying to say everyone cheats and then uses talking in class, making a mistake on taxes, and offsides in a game as examples are just making themselves look foolish. It is not what we are talking about and the people making the comparison I am sure know that but they have lost the argument so they just keep throwing that out. I am done with that aspect of the discussion, if rational posts are made I will respond, guess I won't be responding to pclfan.
"The people" refers to more than one. I'm guessing you mean me as well judging from that alone (unless you mis-spoke). Since I just joined the argument, I certainly differ from your logic since I'd have no reason to enter desperate mode and throw out examples since I just joined in. Now, I'm more just replying to this: "Most are honest and obey the rules" < That is just not correct and no matter the generation people have lied and will continue to lie. I'm a great person, but have lied of course. I'm not really in the argument, just replying to that one thing you said.
If you are using talking in class as an indication that all people cheat then you are included because there is a huge difference between things such as conspiring with other people to change the PSI of a football to break the rules in a game against many others and then being generally non-cooperative with the investigation into that action comparative to talking in class. It's not just that there is such a big difference in severity between the 2 actions, there is also the fact that one is a deliberate attempt to gain an advantage over other persons and the other gives no indication of the honesty of a person. Anyone that tries to include talking in class or making a mistake are obviously trying to bring what Br*dy did down to that level and the 2 are night and day different. If I say that sometimes people make mistakes and maybe tell a fib that doesn't hurt other can we get beyond trying to compare what Br*dy did to making a lane change without signalling or telling your kid that Santa is real?
Not making a mistake (the most overused word in the English language) on your taxes but cheating on your taxes. Not going offsides but tripping a guy when the ref isn't looking. Or acting like you caught a ball when you didn't. I'm not talking about mistakes I'm talking about intentionally breaking the rules. Imo this goes on all the time in pro sports. Why do think all coaches on the sidelines cover their mouths. Because they think opponents are hiring people to watch games on TV and lip read. Now that's cheating.
You keep mentioning Tom Brady and PSI even though I clearly said I wasn't in that argument, so 90% of this post is irrelevant. Its like you're quoting me without reading my post or projecting towards other members. I could care less about this Brady argument you guys are having, I'm just saying everyone or mostly everyone lies at least once in their lives and it has nothing to do with generation. I'll say it again, I'm replying to that one thing again.
If you "could care less" about the Br*dy argument then stay the fuck out of the Br*dy thread. Dumbass.
I think you should watch your attitude actually to be honest. Anyway, why stay out of the thread? The thread doesn't revolve around the Brady argument you two are having so telling me to stay out of the thread for that reason makes little sense. It revolves around wanting them on your team or not, right OP? Where in the OP did you say discussing PSI and the sort was a must? Where did you say we had to care about every argument two are having? Where did you say quoting others with valid opinions was against the rules? You realize forums are designed to both agree and disagree with others based on the posts they deliever, right? I replied to one part of your post because I wanted to offer my opinion on what you said. All you've done up until this post is call me names, fail to read my post, post irrevalent stuff that had nothing to do with my post, tell me to stay out of a thread for a reason based on your anger and not an actual valid reason. Anything else?
