I was at that game. I remember that it was cold and that Gaffney & Shuler had some nice plays. That int. that ended the game was Bill Simpons second. Shea was literally rocking & rolling up to that point.
The Jets beat Marino and the Dolphins on Monday Night Football in the 1985 season. One play that sticks out in my memory is the 'Helicopter', when Nat Moore was hit by two Jets defenders and sent spinning in mid-air. It was a great catch, but it's one of the plays that made me fall in love with the game of football.
I put up a video of the Jets' final drive from that game, including Toon's TD at the end of it (great audible from O'Brien).
Most memorable in a positive fashion for me was the phantom TD by Vinny over Seattle. I'll never forget his knee clearly being down with his head thrusting over the goal line. A close second was the Harris interception off of Brady in the 2010 playoffs when the Jets were massive underdogs on the road. Nobody gave them a chance, and even though they ended up blowing it and not scoring after the int, when Harris ended the Patriots first drive with an interception and return you knew you could throw the massive point spread out the window - it was going to be a game.
the one that popped into my head was Curtis Martin throwing a TD to Chrebet in Tampa to beat the Bucs after the whole Keyshawn thing and Chrebet being a torchlight or something.
So many... Best: Edwards dragging the two Pat DB's into the end zone. Holmes' catch vs Pats Worst: A.J. Duhe; Byers fumble vs Broncos
On the positive side: Matt Snell running wide into the Orange Bowl end zone in Super Bowl III Todd to Barkum in 1981 comeback win over Miami John Hall 50+ yard field goal in Oakland booting Jets into the playoffs Honorable mentions: Sanchez to Braylon Edwards down the sideline against Houston, O'Brien to Walker in OT, Vinny to Dedric Ward in division clinching game in Buffalo 1998 The negative: Vinny tearing his achilles and Super Bowl dreams down the tube only minutes into the 1999 season Fake spike Blair Thomas fumble
The Jets not only needed to beat the Packers to make the playoffs but they also needed the Patriots to beat the Dolphins. Early in the second quarter the Jets were up 7-3 in an uneventful start against the Packers when Adam Vinatieri kicked the game winning field goal to give the Jets control of their playoff destiny. The crowd which had been silent until that point erupted and the Jets pounded the Packers for a 42-17 victory. The following week the defense confused Peyton Manning to no end as the Jets whooped the Colts 42-0.
Still trying to recover from that one...honorable mention 1998 AFC Championship Game after Blake Spence blocked the punt we went downhill
I lost it on the Sanchez/Holmes TD pass to beat the Texans. Great moment for all in attendance. Fun year as well. Lots of other moments as well, but that one was probably the most adrenaline fueled. It all happened so fast.
It's tough to pick individual plays from those '09 and '10 playoff runs because they were all euphoric, so I will recount these two moments that come to mind: I was at the Jets-Pats game in Week 2 of 2010 when we rocked Brady after the embarrassing Monday Night opener against the Ravens. Sanchez was really clicking and crisp with three touchdown passes and I remember walking out of the stadium thinking, "Wow, we've got our man." That whole game was euphoric and I've never been at a Jets game with a more electric atmosphere. I was also at the Jets-Texans game that 2010 season, which was an AMAZING game. That last minute 80 yard drive was just ridiculous, and half the stadium stupidly cleared out beforehand. The initial bomb to Braylon made all of us start jumping, and then the beautiful fade to Santonio which sealed it just sent MetLife into pandemonium. Such great memories from that season.
This team has had such a sad history, one of the most memorable was Steve O'Neal's 98 yard punt vs the Broncos
3 most memorable that I experienced Jumbo Elliot TD vs Miami, 2000 Curtis to Chrebet vs Tampa Bay, 2000 Shonn Greene TD vs San Diego, 2009
The 2010 AFC championship game when we were losing 24-19 against the Steelers in a 2nd half where our offense was hot but on a 3rd and 6 to force a Steelers punt to give us the ball back, our defense allowed Big Ben to run around for a while and complete a 7 yard completion to Heinz ward I think it was which ultimately ended the game....I keep thinking back that if our offense got the ball back we would have driven down the field and scored to send us to the super bowl!
When we rolled over green bay in the last game of the season to win the Afc east in 02. That entire game was euphoric for me http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/recap?gameId=221229020
