Following is an excerpt I loved from a Randy Lange article entitled, "Todd Bowles Pressers: Five Impressions" http://www.newyorkjets.com/news/art...ressions/7a274261-0892-4f23-a808-0cb7a9760d41 Think we'd ever have heard Rex make a statement like that or spend time with the offense? Even if he made such a statement, he obviously never learned anything and/or it never changed him. I like Bowles more and more.
I've always thought a great quality for anyone is to learn from your mistakes. And even better, learn from someone else's mistakes. At this early stage I'd say Bowles is doing exactly that.
You actually went to the trouble of finding a quote to complain about a guy who is no longer around? Get over it, dude, it's over and all your sniveling and whining isn't going to change anything.
Yeah its no different to what Amaro says. Since the last regime towards the end failed, any positives that come from the new regime can be seen as a shot to the prior regime.
Rex had set up an "Us vs. Them" mentality----not just against league opponents; that mentality was also implicit in the locker room. Defense vs. everybody. If someone wants to post something that celebrates the fact that our present coach is not an infantile self-promoter, that is hardly "sniveling" and "whining". It's just free speech. He is free to say it. And you are all free to choose not to read it.
It looks like the Jets got themselves a real HC now not a glorified defensive coordinator. I'm liking what I'm seeing/hearing from the new regime so far.
I'm only replying to you because I could see that axel responded to you. A typically uncivil, rude response from you. In your world, if someone says something that you don't like or agree with, they're "whining." I guess to someone of your obviously low intelligence level, there are only a couple of different emotions or attitudes, and that makes it easier for you to label people. That's why I have you on ignore. You're a jerk and not worth the time of day. But I'll respond just this once for the sake of others. No, I didn't go looking for a quote so I could complain about Rex. For one thing, just like you, he isn't worth the effort. You're both trash beneath my feet. For another thing, I don't need to go looking for a quote to find something negative to say about that dumbass loser Rex. There's plenty fresh in my mind of his many flaws and incompetence as a HC. It's totally understandable why you would love him so much, since you're both of the same low intelligence level and low breeding. I saw the Randy Lange article on his impressions of Bowles and thought it would be a good read and interesting, since Randy Lange is a good writer for the Jets. I enjoyed the article, but his point #4 is what stood out to me, and it showed a clear contrast between Rex and Bowles. Now go crawl back under the rock from whence you came, cretin.
Jets so far have won April and May ............And nothing else, let's not keep getting ahead of ourselves here with the round the clock praise of the new adminstration
No one's getting ahead of themselves. There's nothing wrong with pointing out things we like about the new regime. There's nothing wrong with watching and making observations of how the new regime is going about their job. No one is saying it's a final analysis with all the evidence in. Some of us prefer seeing the glass half full, rather than half empty.
Every time we start acting like we are defending Superbowl Champions in May we end up dead in December looking like jokes
I think he is just pointing it out to show optimism about Bowles. When comparing him to Ryan it's nice to see hints that he could be better, bc that's the goal.
That's what happens when you listen to Rex There's a lot to be positive and excited about. C'mon man....
And I'm excited about all of it but people are calling Mac Ron Wolf,Our Defense the best in NFL History,Bowles is coach of the year.......etc these expectations are way to high for anyone to live up to not to mention a single game hasn't been played yet
I'm generally calm and lukewarm, but even I'm excited for this season to start. I really believe the Jets will make a lot of noise.
That's fair. Temper the expectations I'm liking the idea that Bowles is looking to oversee the O to comply to the overall approach. Maybe he can get Fitz to manage games better to compliment the D, and actually get a career year out of him somehow. Don't let Fitz try to be more than he is. There's no damn reason for him to be reckless with this team here. I don't trust Geno and I'll believe he can improve when I see it. It would suck to see him undermine the whole thing at this point. Just don't see TB tolerating that bs at all.
Geno to me is a better option then Fitzpatrick because he has more upside. He can also make a lot of plays with his legs which we have seen him do.I think Geno is gonna be the week 1 starter its year 3 for him he either is gonna put it together or fail at this point.Fitzpatrick has gone 10 years without bringing his teams anywhere,Geno has only played 2 seasons and still has a chance.I'm hoping for the best with Geno because we don't have another choice Fitzpatrick isn't the answer.Maybe Bowles can bring something out of him
Some pro expert on WFAN this afternoon said that as the team is set today with our draft and free agents we should be able to challenge the NEP. It gonna be the Fitzgeno show whether we like it or not for this season; between the two of them, Brandon Marshall, Ivory, Powell I am hoping to witness at least one quarter of of NO three and outs. A few field goals and I'll be happy. Touchdowns? Well that will be gravy. I expect the defense to excel/dominate. I hope I am so wrong and we average 500 yds a game in O, I would guess Gaily/Fitz work together for that to happen. So cautiously optimistic
Fitzpatrick and Geno average the same YPC with between 50-80 attempts each in years starting. They're virtually the same in terms of running. There's been a huge myth surrounding Geno that he's this ace of a quarterback in terms of running the ball because he's a black quarterback. He's virtually the same in terms of running as every other pocket passer in the league not named Brady/Brees/Mannings/Flacco/RRoethlisberger. He also has proven he's not too smart running the ball by running out of bounds before the LOS when he could've thrown it away (versus Bears) and running backwards to try to make a huge play and losing valuable yardage (versus Packers). I root for Geno to succeed but the problems with him don't really seem to be things that just 'click' with experience in the league. He has horrible situational awareness and pretty poor football smarts. Learning to go throw progressions, where to thrown and when, etc. are things that players figure out with experience. Throwing the ball out of bounds when you're all alone running towards the sideline to prevent a two yard loss isn't really something that can be learned or taught. It's instinctual. Those are traits that can allow quarterbacks to properly manage the game and stick around the league for ten years like Fitzpatrick has. I think this regime will play the best football player but if Geno doesn't adjust his game to do more than just wing the ball around and doesn't adjust to manage the game I highly doubt he'll play. For Fitzpatric, he's proved he can pick apart defenses (specifically in Gailey ' s system) underneath. His problems arise when he's throwing in that 15+ yard range as he holds the ball too long and forces the ball down field into coverage. Geno is actually a better passer in that intermediate range, his struggles are forcing timing routes. Neither of them are very good at throwing fly patterns or deep posts. That may be the determine factor in who plays now that we have A legitimate down field threat.
