Simms will compete as he always does and either be holding a clipboard or on the PS like he always is. The guy stinks, and the fact that we have Fitz here doesn't bode well for his bid as the backup QB. And shit, Petty being here all but locks up Simms getting cut. I can't wait until we never have to pretend he's a worthy option again.
Wow--great video, thanks for posting. Intelligent, personable, well spoken, and looks the part of a QB and a leader. Really rooting for this kid. _
passable = not what you were gunning for but you dont need to cut him tommorow either satisfactory = reached your set goals
No matter what folks think of Simms, it's probably safe to say that this year he will get as fair a chance as he has ever had as a Jet. This regime is not beholden to Geno Smith. If they believe Fitz/Simms is truly the better option than Fitz/Geno (presuming Petty is the third QB), Geno and whatever his cap hit is will be gone. If they don't, well then that should quiet much of the "Simms is better than Geno"-talk.
"Luck is the residue of design." Maybe this new regime will build in the luck factor we've been missing for deacdes. _
I don't agree with '68 or whomever you're referring to, but is it that hard to understand why a Jets fan could be so cynical/skeptical? After all, it's not like for most of our history that our GMs and HCs haven't made stupid blunders that looked just like this. That's why I think we Jets fans should be more understanding, compassionate and patient with each other, and a lot slower to attack each other or criticize each other for our opinions. We ALL want the same thing. We ALL need to put our egos aside, be more respectful of others and make a greater effort to get along. The only thing that ruins Jets boards for me is the constant bickering. I get sucked into it too, much to my chagrin. We all can be better than that. I liked the move, and think Petty has a chance. Someone posted during the draft that they had seen somewhere that two other teams were trying to trade up with Jax to get Petty. I don't know if that was just a rumor or true, but it's possible that 3 other teams wanted Petty in the 4th.
Let's pretend the Jags called our bluff... who gives a shit? We gave up the 229th pick out of 256 to ensure we got the guy we wanted. Who has a better chance at becoming a solid pro: the guy who went in the 4th round that has all the tools necessary to be a starting QB or the guy who almost went undrafted? This is typical SOJF behavior. You aren't happy unless you have something to be unhappy about.
Hey--I'm willing to give this new regime the benefit of the doubt--every move Mac has made so far I'm in agreement with. All I said was we made a smart move to trade up to ward off Cleveland--as was reported (none of really know)-- and I was called bullshit on it. That somehow the Jets got snookered, that Jax lied to us and Mac foolishly gave up a pick. Based on what, exactly? I don't understand that mentality. _
