We would have to get a pretty solid return for me to be ok with trading one of the best DL in the league.
The way this happens is if the Jets feel that Coples will replace him, and there is a draft prospect available that will really make another aspect of the team stronger. Risky move since Mo is a known commodity and draft picks are not. Still, they might feel his contract asking price is unreasonable or see him as a bargaining chip to get a QB.
Do you trade Wilk and say a second or third next year for 2 (keeping 6)? I might be tempted. Not sure we keep him long term
You know I have been saying something is up with us not paying this man. We will all find out on Thursday night if I was right feeling this way. Hope I am wrong and we sign him.
It would take much more than that to get 2. Rumor is Cleveland is offering both their 1s and two players and it still isn't enough.
Luckily teams are calling us and we aren't calling teams, that means we aren't looking to dump the guy and we are far less likely to make a stupid deal in which we just take back whatever we can get rather than paying Mo. I'm assuming Mike Macc is going to hold steady unless he gets an offer he can't refuse.
I've been saying it for months, we should trade him. He's gonna command at least 70 million and IMO he isn't worth that. I'd much rather give that to Richardson over him because I doubt we can keep both.
ok, then here is a fact instead. When Washington went from 6 to 2 to get RGIII it took 3 number 1s and a 2 to get there.
My exact thoughts. I hope we aren't the ones shopping him. Stud Defensive Lineman are valuable in this league and if we don't plan on paying both Mo and Sheldon top money, it is reasonable to entertain trade offers for Mo. No reason to ask around to devalue your own player. Sit tight and wait for the right offer and if it doesn't come, franchise Mo for another year.
Yeah, it does seem it would be just a money thing if we trade wilk and then draft a stud DL to replace him. If we trade him as part of a package to get a QB it's a whole different story. Still, this deal would have to be done before the draft and he would have to negotiate a new deal and take a physical..can't see it happening.
It's tough to see the situation with incomplete information. Does he want to get paid like Donkey Kong Suh? And, exactly, what are teams offering? And what is Mack's backup plan? Without knowing those things, it's hard to say how I feel about this and I've got to fall on my default opinion: keep the Linden kid in green!
I hope we keep him. I don't like the idea of trading a proven commodity for a prospect that may or may not pan out. Seems like it's a lateral move at best.
What I don't want to see happen is trading Mo and then drafting Williams. How does that improve our team? We just swap a great player with a younger player that may or may not be great. Like losing Revis and getting Milliner - that didn't improve us at all. We should improve the team with a #6 pick. Mo is under contract this year.
