Praising or bashing a guy the day of the draft would be just as dumb as bashing or praising him now. Mariota isn't a sure thing, Fowler isn't, Beasley isn't, any draftee isn't. I bet the Raiders fan base was rock hard when McFadden fell to them...
he has proven he can sign big names when he has a ton of cap space the league mandated he spend. big fucking deal. how that is at all impressive is beyond me. saying I would be calling for his head is assinine. I was one of the handful on here who thought it was fucking stupid to judge idzik before you could even legitimately grade one of his draft classes. you don't judge a gm after one free agency period or 1 season or 2 seasons IMO. You have to be patient enough to watch the seeds blossom or wilt.
I like Mac, I think he has a real good idea of what he wants to do. He totally reminds me of Lundberg from office space when he says "Yeah" to the reporters lol
Once again I wasn't even talking about the big name free agents he signed. Talking about the depth signings that he made to improve our oline, LBs and secondary outside of Revis.
maybe they were good signings. maybe they weren't. I'm more of a show me guy. things are always proven over time.
Which means regardless of what happens beginning Thursday you won't be praising or bashing but standing firm on your let's-wait-until-September stance. Got it.
As difficult as it will be to show some patience in regards to the draft I have been trying to convince myself to do just that. No matter what happens & who we pick, I've got to believe (pray) that MM & TB have a vision for this football team and actually know what they're doing going forward. I really can't see us as fans getting too nuts over the 1st rounder because, with needs at LB,OL & to a slightly lesser extent, WR, I'm thinking we fill one of those 3 positions of need with a top quality prospect. Unless someone comes totally out of left field & we pick a "reach" guy no ones really had on their radar, I think it's kinda safe to say we won't be too upset after round 1. Then again we are Jets fans, after all, so that may just be wishful thinking.
Wrong. Not September. I won't be judging him for years. That doesn't mean I won't like or dislike a pick or personnel move he makes. There were plenty of things I disliked about what Idzik was doing but I think he got a raw deal. Obviously he would have spent the money this offseason too - as per league rule. I guess that would have proven something according to some on here.
Everyone stop with nicknames until we have more evidence. Lmao really Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Have you ever run a business before? Not being mean, just wondering cause I sense a lot of posters who 'are not' ready to anoint Mikey Mac do not really understand the big picture he provides. Izdik was not fired b/c of his poor draft class, or his presser, or his FA whiffs. Izdik was fired b/c the COMBINATION of the these things PLUS the 'inability to work well with others'. Part of being a business leader is to make others around you better. Inspire them. Get the best out of them. Izdik split the building by all accounts. The Players didn't like him. The CS didn't like him. His own staff didn't like him. A guy like that is in over their head and you cut ties as fast as possible. As for Mikey Mac, the most impressive thing here is not what he has done, but what he has NOT done. As a first year GM with a rep for being a poor public speaker / personality, he has handled the toughest press around seamlessly. There hasn't been one issue. In FA with boatloads of $, we did not over pay for anyone, mortgage our future, or get used by other FAs or teams for their own bidding. In fact, reports all are stating how much of a veteran Mikey Mac appears to be at being a GM. By all early accounts he has won over the press, players, and staff with his work ethic, lack of ego, and decisive personality. That is why I believe many Jet fans are so impressed. This isn't just an improvement on Idzik, it seems to be an improvement on any GM we have had in recent memory. Now, it is early. There is still a draft, and only time will tell. But I must say, those waiting for his swift downfall are going to be sorely disappointed. He may not turn out to be great, but it is pretty clear by his actions (and non actions) he is at least going to be a solid GM for years to come.
What about Money Mike,Because that's all we have seen him do so far is spend money and nothing else yet.I personally like the guy and hope he does well but its to early for nicknames
I like to believe Idzik got fired for drafting Dee Milliner and trading for Percy Harvin. makes his firing completely justified regardless of any other elements that should have been waited on.
I'd just be happy with a player that doesn't suck, no matter what side of the ball. Multiple of them would be even better.
I hope you're right. A lot of people thought Idzik had a great big picture at first too. There were articles about how well respected he was among his peers and how he handled situations so well. It's all fluff right now. No one knows how good or bad of a GM he will be and anyone who claims they do know is full of shit and probably themselves. Time will tell with Mac - well, lets hope he at least gets long enough to see what he is trying to build. If you wanna crown him then go ahead and crown him. I'm sure running your business is exactly the same as an NFL franchise.
