As far as Geno possibly getting cut, I don't feel bad for him.

Ask Simms if he feels bad for a QB who got 30 NFL starts. Shit, Simms would kill for just ONE of those starts.

Again if we're talking about Geno vs. Simms. Here is the question I have to ask you. If Simms got 30 starts would he have a better production than Geno.

Totally agree. The best thing that could happen to Simms would be if the Jets cut him and he can go somewhere else and get a real chance to play. He never had that with the Jets, and I thought he showed talent as you indicated.

But that doesn't mean that Rex was wrong in not playing Simms.

All the Jests Qbs had the same issue.

Wait.. Wasn't MM the second coming? MM was the PassMaster no? Although the Jets haven't had much talent up in the booth in quite a few years, MM was as close to a modern OC as anyone else we hired.

Being better than Schitty....a good thing. Would have worked for Penny, or Nacho. Geno needs Paul Brown.

I kind of disagree. Matt Simms showed a very strong arm when he was given a chance and wasn't a turnover machine like some other Jet QB, who shall remain nameless. In the NFL, if you can wing the ball, you've got half the battle won. The rest of the stuff, Simms could possibly develop if given the chance. I'm not saying this guy is his Dad, but I remember Phil Simms struggled a bit before he found his groove. I'd have no problem if he were the backup next year, in fact I'd take him over that nameless QB (even as a starter) at this point.

Well, Simms did show flashes but he just didn't show enough to that well known QB guru MM to ensure anything other than being put on the depth chart behind a barely interested Vick who clearly was here for the check. I'd like to see the kid get a do over someplace else. Sometimes a fresh start can bring a career back from the graveyard.

We don't know if Marty had the authority to play Simms over Smith and even Vick.

The fact that you referenced how bad Geno is one sentence before saying this is kind of baffling.

    How so?

There was plenty of in-game opportunity to see if Simms is worth keeping around.
Why not have him start a few games and see if he has what it takes. We know what Geno is capable of, why couldn't he have done the same with Simms once the season was shot. Vick was a waste.

You cut Geno like we should have cut Sanchez.

I don't think he will get cut this year, he's a relatively cheap backup and we would still have to eat 1M in dead money if we did. Makes no sense to cut him.

I actually didn't reference Geno. I said nameless QB, LOL. Nevertheless, I'm happy with Geno's arm, it's his brain that worries me.

Just goes to show how bad Idzik really was as a GM. He neutered his coaches to push his own agenda and costs the Jets several years.

and without his GM protection, you can believe his shelf life will last only as long as he counts against the cap.
